Do your patches also have velocity sensitivity set to 100% like the factory presets? I find that annoying as most people are not trained piano players. A value of up to 50% max would be enough in my view.
I can only imagine how a newbie demoing Mulab must be desperately looking for the control to reduce the velocity sensitivity as they zap through the factory patches :hihi:

If you mean the presets for the step sequencer, I set the velocity to 100% to work with the filter.
For the patches I agree with you, but I prefer set the volume velocity to 0% in my patch and let the others go crazy to find the magic control to change the velocity :hihi:
I think this depends on what kind of patch,I prefer to set in general only the volume velocity to 0% and change it when use the patch in a project and usually I put the control on the front panel, but this is just my way to work :)

Hehe, that's why I think 50% for volume is a good compromise...

I agree with you ,in general 50% is a good compromise,at least for us, but I always read controversial opinions on this,so I think that 100% is a neutral choice and in any case to resolve this problem almost all the daw allow to set the overall velocity to a certain value.

Your midi keyboard would also have velocity curve options too

Ugliness, however, goes right the way through

I'd tend to go for 100% tracking and adjust the patch so this sounds good -- i.e. no clipping when stacking several high velocity notes, good volume still when mid velocity notes received and softened sound for low velocity. Of course, some patches want no tracking and are monophonic, so these things have to be adjusted to fit! :)

And yes, different players have different playing styles, different keyboards have different sets of velocity curves and you could even turn velocity tracking off at the keyboard.
