Re: Tone2 will release Icarus - 3D WaveTable Synthesizer
Summer or May release?

If the software is released a bit earlier will more bugs be found from the users and so help to improve the software faster?

2 sine waves out of phase, do they sound diiferent if they are in phase?

:tu:
one sine wave on 1 icarus track
and one sine wave /the same-phase invert/ on a second instance of icarus : the result will be null?
(don't forget the micro tuning:))

Are you serious?

Nono, much better to release it unfinished, and buggy, so it can be improved faster when the buyers who bought it for 150 € can encounter, and report bugs rather than work and make music with it, which is why they actually bought it in the first place. At least according to KVR logic. :dog:

or release it as early as possible, before the GUI is locked in, or features are fully realized. then the well-organized team that we are on kvr can help design it... :D

I'd rather wait and have it released in his usual quality. I barely remember any bug fix updates for any of the tone2 commercial stuff i have bought the last few years, that's how solid they always are.
I agree. Too much stuff gets rushed out there with tons of problems. I have yet to find any bugs with either of my Tone 2 synths. So I'd rather they released it later than sooner. It's less headaches for everybody.

Actually, you almost convinced me there for a moment. :P

Releasing when ready is good, its just a shame we have to endear the 6 month build up, getting drip fed details by ppl who 'cant say too much'

A cunning marketing plan no doubt, but very tiresome.

Actually, i'd say they did a lot right with this kind of drip feeding. The amount of interest in this 60-page (!) thread is quite amazing for something which isn't even released yet. Kudos to them. For serving the customer's nature so well. :)

Works great for me...

An announcement is made
I get excited
Months go by
I realize there is no deficiency without it
Interest wanes
Product is released
I'm by then immune to an impulse buy

:hihi:

Just saying that for many, the excitement before the release is the biggest. I'm not counting myself to those either (and i'm not counting myself very responsive to the rest of their marketing too), but, it's smart to appeal to those.

I look at it this way. When it comes out, however long it takes, I'll look at it like any other synth. I'll demo it. If I like it, I'll buy it.

All the pre hype doesn't excite or bother me one way or the other.

I have plenty of patience.
