Looking at a list of deaths of recent years today, I found myself being more broken up about the death of Jerry Casale from DEVO a few yrs ago which i wasn`t aware of. Jerry had a big impact on me. He, with Mark, were the creative innovators for me, not Prince.

I`d say this death train has just started rolling.

I think Jerry would be upset to hear of his "death"....... it was Jerry's brother Bob who died recently. Alan the drummer has been dead for a while. Jerry is alive and well, he's in the wine business and still involved with Devo. He recently produced a song called "It's all Devo". Oops! Your right. I didn`t know about Bob`s death and I got mixed up being the brothers look somewhat alike, and wearing that hat, the pix I saw looked more like Jerry.
I was justified in how I compared Prince and Jerry above.

Edit - In my experience here in Philadelphia, my doctor recently refused to give me a low strength anxiety med called lorazepam. He made me see a psychiatrist in order to get that med.

He also stopped my prescription for ibuprofen for chronic neck pain because of possible kidney damage in future years.
My point here is that my experience shows excessive caution from doctors.

That list would seem to be a measure of the incidence of opiate use - be it medicine by prescription or use of opium or derivatives for "recreational" purposes. It really says nothing about how many scripts for oxycontin or percoset are being written for arthritis and cancer sufferers etc.

Plenty of articles when you search Google for "90% of all opiate prescriptions in the world are in the united states of america" ... Appears the source of many of those articles is this testimony to the US Senate by the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians:

Your doctor is the minority, the ones who believed the oath they took. 'Doctor shopping' is a term for a reason.

As to why? Its big business. Follow the money. If youd like to see what happens after theyve created an addict and cut off the supply, search the net for 'heroin epidemic soccer moms'.

Where do you go when you hit rock bottom? How about a private for-profit prison.

Weed isnt the gateway drug, its prescriptions. They are the new dealer on the block. Its better than messy caskets filled with heroin flying back from vietnam. Youll never see a crack commercial on tv, but watch 1-2 hours of tv and tell me how many prescription drug commercials you see.

Gotta love the stupid terms they come up with. One of my favorites is 'medical misadventure'.

See? We are on an adventure and we didnt even know it.

annode's dr is right, as someone who takes anxiety meds I can tell you my GP (general practitioner) would not prescribe them for me and my psychiatrist does. My psychiatrist would not be able to prescribe pain killers either even though he is a medical doctor, he would send me to my GP or a specialist depending on what they are for. His (annodes dr) stopping the the ibuprofen was his call to make as that is his area of practice. I think that annode's doctor should be able to prescribe him what he needs but then the psychiatrist wouldn't get his slice of the pie now would he? It's the American way, keep driving up the costs and keep telling us it's for our own good
