Stylophone VSTi trouble...!

Well, I can't seem to get the Stylophone VSTi working. This one is supposed to be a pretty good rendition of the old classic stylophone.

I try to input keys on the MIDI keyboard but I get nothing at all coming out.

However, I try the other VSTi instruments and they play no problems. I can't get on to the website (of the man who made the Stylophone VSTi) so I guess we're just flat out of luck here. This VSTi is absolutely useless without producing any sound.

If anyone else has had any success with Stylophone VSTi then please let us know, any help would be appreciated. I've been trying to get it to work, but to no avail. Tried everything, copied the files, did as I was told explicitly in the webpage manual.

I just can't help but think that somebody has deliberately screwed up this VSTi and uploaded a nonfunctioning VSTi for heaven knows what reason! I don't know why, but I guess they're probably planning on charging everybody to use it. I can't think of any other reason.

If anyone can get this to work I'd love to know how you got it working.

Thanks

Ben

Hey, this is simply a joke VSTi, not to be taken seriously! All presets simply make the same stupid "blip" sound and there aren't any sound controls at all. The nicest thing about this is the GUI.

Okay, concerning your sound problems, you need to copy the stylophone.dat into your \Windows or \Windows\System directory (can't remember which one). If your Windows folder is called differently (eg. WinNT) copy it there, of course.
Then it should work, but as I said, it is not worth the effort...

I did that to no avail. Still no sound.

I'll just use a Stylophone soundfont I found. It's not too bad but of course it's just a stylo sound sample in 10-bit format. It's in both vibrato and standard.

I'm sure a better stylo synth will come out. Maybe someone will write one and post it for us to download. One with a few presets (say for Space Oddysey and Orbital etc) that actually sound different would be good.
