Hey everyone!

I'm trying to create what I think you would call a "celestial choir" or "heavenly voice" synthy sound; it seems like the kind of thing Diva would be good at. The closest I can get is using the "MM Choir in the Clouds" preset and even that doesn't get me close enough for me to hone in on the sound :(

Please see the opening of this song for what I'm looking for:

Lol at the name. But you could get this done better with Zebra.

That sound sounds like a bandpassed mellotron with some deep reverb to me...

Agreed, this is better suited to Zebra.

I wouldn't start trying to do that sound in Diva... I'd go for Zebra

However, if I were going to use Diva (recreating existing sounds is not something I'm particularly good at), I'd use the Digital Osc and the Uhbie Filter and some post processing.

Thanks for all the replies :)

Man, I was worried I'd get such answers, but not horribly surprised. I've kinda been considering Zebra for a few different reasons anyway...

How is Zebra's learning curve compared to Diva's?

Zebra has a bit of a learning curve for sure, but it's well worth investing some time to learn.

Or maybe a set of mellotron samples, a bandpass filter, and some reverb.

Like the first sound here ? :

Best using the digital oscillator' noise oscillator with high q settings . Set stack to 2 or 3 , use octaves +1 / +2 or or octaves & sevenths . Dont set to to exact 12/24 .

FYI That although Zebra could probably do this, you can probably pull off a comparable sound in another synth too. What synths do you have? I'd recommend posting this example and what synths you have in the Sound Design subforum and asking for advice there.

If you are interested in picking up Zebra though, have at it. It's a phenomenal synth product, but I can't in good conscience say you've gotta have it to make this sound when that may not be the case. But again, I'll plug and vouch for Zebra. :P
