Well that makes sense . It's $60 bucks for new users that's a steal .. much like Reaper.

^^^ I love the look 7 so much I haven't looked. That's actually what put me over the top. It was worth what I paid (older version/upgrade)

I just find Reaper much faster to work in when compared to how quickly I can work in Tracktion. I find Reaper gets in the way less so, than any other DAW I use, to be honest. When I'm composing - when I'm using the DAW like a blank canvas - I find that Reaper allows me to drag things to the arrange, fart around, bounce to audio, fart around again etc. etc. with the least 'things' getting in the way of that process. Totally down to the way I like to work as well. I don't click too well with Tracktions UI (although I really like the idea behind the concept) - I've always found it fiddly to say the least. I made my comment just as a counter to the one I quoted really - because it was stated almost like a fact - that Reaper causes hassle. I've found it to be, despite its faults (that sometimes cause me to go looking for a new DAW), the least 'hassle' of everything I use - gets in the way the least.

Basically.. less mouse clicks, more 'intuitive' to how my mind works I guess. I'm just as used to Podium, Harrison Mixbus, Reason and Samplitude but I find Reaper faster for getting ideas down or, well, for doing anything really. I actually find it the least 'inspiring' - the most utilitarian - as opposed to making me feel creative so it certainly isn't what I always fire up when I have an idea or need to do something. It's certainly the fastest though - the routing is (finally, after spending time with it until it clicked) so easy to me whereas most DAW's still give me a headache even when I want to do the simplest things like sidechaining or something.

Just be careful when saying... "I much prefer X over Y." ... about any daw because at least 3 people will ask you why and then at least two of them try to prove your subjective preferences wrong.

I'm dedicated to answering that regular question in the future by saying... "I just like it more than X." ... and not elaborating on all of that for the 1000th time ... to avoid the recurring need to justify everything into perpetuity.

It is also possible to give specific explanations... for example, in DAW X, this feature I use a lot takes 4 steps to implement and in DAW Y it only takes one.

Nah. It's impolite to not answer.

To be clear, this isn't even only about the net. People in the real world ask me all the time why I use X instead of PT or whatever and basically, I just get tired of answering that same question over and over so I just say.... "I just like it better."

Besides that, about 25% of them aren't asking from curiosity anyway, they more just want to open the door to tell me how great the thing they like is for 20 minutes.

At some point it gets old talking about the same things over and over so I keep it short and polite.

Otoh, here, just search, those opinions from people who post here regualrly are all over KVR. Multiple vs. threads.

Anywho, I am liking the T7 demo. I'm trying to get more help on the scripting features which are largely undocumented.
