I find Tracktion way more hassle than Reaper for making music! We is all different lol :)
Elaborate please.
I just find Reaper much faster to work in when compared to how quickly I can work in Tracktion. I find Reaper gets in the way less so, than any other DAW I use, to be honest. When I'm composing - when I'm using the DAW like a blank canvas - I find that Reaper allows me to drag things to the arrange, fart around, bounce to audio, fart around again etc. etc. with the least 'things' getting in the way of that process. Totally down to the way I like to work as well. I don't click too well with Tracktions UI (although I really like the idea behind the concept) - I've always found it fiddly to say the least. I made my comment just as a counter to the one I quoted really - because it was stated almost like a fact - that Reaper causes hassle. I've found it to be, despite its faults (that sometimes cause me to go looking for a new DAW), the least 'hassle' of everything I use - gets in the way the least.
How many years have you used it?

As it goes with most software. Life would be really boring if we all felt the same way about everything. :tu:

Just be careful when saying... "I much prefer X over Y." ... about any daw because at least 3 people will ask you why and then at least two of them try to prove your subjective preferences wrong. :hihi:

I'm dedicated to answering that regular question in the future by saying... "I just like it more than X." ... and not elaborating on all of that for the 1000th time ... to avoid the recurring need to justify everything into perpetuity. :D
Some folks (like me) are actually curious, and not trying to prove anyone wrong (or anything similar).

It's fascinating to me why people use one product over another.

Sometimes I really can't put my finger on why I use Reaper the most. Sometimes it infuriates me - as some of my posts around here have proved - but I always come back to it and I always stay the longest with it. It's something to do with how 'manual' it is I think - there are multiple ways to achieve the same thing. And, apart from bad plugins, it seems impossible to 'break' it. It's only ever crashed when a bad plugin is in use. It's easily the least pretty, the least inspiring but that may even be part of why I like it - it doesn't use bells and whistles as any kind of selling point and I love the company itself which makes me want to use it.

I love the fact you can: use multiple VSTi's on the same track; have audio and midi on the same track; use free item positioning so your whole project can be on the same track if you wish; have different sample rate files in the same project with no problems; have multiple file formats in the same project; use a huge amount of obscure file formats generally (I still have to use mp2 for one client!); drag a video in and render out the audio with no fiddling around whatsoever (great for quickly grabbing samples of obscure youtube vids); route anything anywhere; place fx on individual audio clips and automate any parameter within the clip (from V5 onwards); can easily batch render all sorts of things.... list goes on. Obviously some of these things may well be in other DAW's.. not sure. Reaper doesn't seem to lock one in to a particular way of working - could be a positive or a negative for some people.

Oh, and that you can use it right back to XP.
