FR: A dedicated spectral manipulation effect

I think it would be great (totally wicked awesome) if you guys at Melda made a spectral manipulation effect, possibly modular. I know there's MTransformer and MMorph but they still don't really do what you can accomplish with something like the FFT modules in Max/Msp or SpectrumWorx. I would actually think that this is one of the things the MCrew is cooking right now (I hope!) but it is appropriate to make a proper request :)
It would go so well with everything else you have done and would be a sound designers dream.

Hope to see it soon!

Yes, yes, a million times yes! This is exactly what I'm hoping MYYY will be.

SpectrumWorx is interesting but I haven't gotten anything I like out of it, I believe they're working on a new version. I used to use DtBlkFx a fair amount, but it's showing it age now and is pretty unintuitive. Other good ones are Sp3tr3, the spectral effects from Anarchy (e.g. spectral corkscrew) and Izotope Spectron. Zynaptiq are soon releasing 'Wormhole' which has some interesting frequency effects. I would LOVE to see melda do something like these. You know it would totally kick ass and beat the pants off these other effects.

We don't need more compressors or EQ's... we need different ways of working with sound. Hell, I'd be interested in anything that messes with the signal from a spectral perspective... even if it seems weird or unuseful. Like a MFrequencyFun... like MBitFun.

The implementation of X - Y pad in Mxxx will make it not less powerful than the Zynaptiq stuffs, specially with an additional of more modern and innovative processors and reverb.

Vojtech has already said that MXXXspectral is on the way!

Actually I already have MXXXSpectral here for me :D. But the problem is, while the concept seems awesome I wasn't that happy about the results. I use it mostly for scientific experiments, but we'll see in the future. Now there's not much time for that really.

Count me on this one too. :?:

Melda's Spectral Crew unites again in search of the horizon.

Maybe you could do at least a private video for some of us to show how such a tool would work? I am just curious and cannot really imagine the workflow, hehe. :D

MXXXSpectral! Wow... sounds great! Please keep working on it! I'm sure you can make it truly great and unique.

I think one has to use these effects carefully and work with it for a while in order to make it really blend with the sound source and not just slap a reandom preset on a track. Then it doesn't sound so good. Take MTransformer for example — it is quite an extreme effect but it can make some very special sounds or add nice textures to a sound source if used carefully. Maybe it would be different with MXXXSpectral since the modulation system is so extensive and one can easily make effects fade in and out.

One thing I'd really like to see in MXXXSpectral is a very smooth and lush spectral freeze.

Yeah, I'd love a spectral reverb... something that can pull out and extend frequencies without colouration... just so you can extend sounds for longer. MTransform can almost do this with the smear and feedback settings but it is heavily effected (in a bad way) by the spectral settings and I'd love to see something specific made for this.

The free vst Sp3tr3 has a 'hold' function that does this, but it's a mega old 32bit vst that's not even available anymore. It can be really useful if you have, say, a bass drum that you want to lengthen to a longer boom, but reverb adds that reverby distance... which isn't what you want.

The best spectral freezing vst effect that i have used is specMonkyageSt.

I would also love to see something like the mentioned MXXXSpectral.
