Brian's snare tutorial is usually (is for this synth) applicable: viewtopic.php?p=5484078#p5484078

Basically: split the sound to 2 instances, 1 for the meat with down pitch higher register than a kick, other for the noise, eq them, push them to a compressor / limiter / more eq. :)

I think the question's been asked a time or two, but how much distortion/overdrive is acceptable? I want to make sure before I solidify this snare I got going on

The answer is "use your judgment."

Ultimately, if other contestants feel your track has too much of a particular FX, they'll report it and then, depending on the contest runner's opinion, it'll either be okay'd, asked to be removed or, worst case scenario, cause you to be DQ'd.

Alright. I don't think my snare should cause too much of a problem then, but just in case, I'm gonna upload a before and after thing and see how that goes; just to be safe.

EDIT: Here you go:

https://soundcloud.com/real_skylake/osc ... -and-after

I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of "still use your own judgement", but I want to at least think I did it the safe way. Thanks in advance to all who listen (and comment)!

Dude, don't sweat it. People use mad fx in this. Just try to keep the basic character of the synth.

Oh man... u-he.... I rely so much on u-he for the work I do I can't not participate this month..! Completely missed the train on the past few OSC's due to the usual stock excuses (work, life etc. ;) ) but am definitely going to try and get a song in this month! I owe it to my u-he fanboy heart. :D

Just started a track today, Think I may actually have something to submit this time.
I just started to make a cymbal sound, here's what I have so far using three instances triggered by a stack of three midi notes.

Please let me know If the link does not display and I will use my Soundcloud instead

This is the best I could do so far with just one instance and one note
