Is there a Melda plugin that works well for monster/alien/creature voices and creates sounds like the standalone app from www.dehumaniser.com?

Dehumaniser isnt doing just one thing but you could try a chain mixing the following types of processing to do what it does

The basic (Lite) version of Dehumaniser is mainly cross-processing your input vocals with well-chosen sounds, which are predominantly animal samples. However it mixes up to 6 sources, which even the Multiband plugins cant do. To do that the same way your best bet might be a modular host like Bidule.

So your starting point would be
MMultibandConvolution or MVocoder

There's also EQ and a Limiter built in.

The more advanced versions include granular, pitch-effects and other transformative effects so I'd suggest

MFreqShifter (pitchshifting)
MTransformer (frequency content alteration)
MMultibandHarmonizer (the poly pitch section)
MNoiseGenerator
MMultibandDelay
MRingModulator (classic Dalek)
MMultibandGranular (granular)
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Best off with MXXX, it comes with all the above mentioned FX and is incredibly flexible.

Try using animal samples with convolution and also try using impulses of tubes to simulate throat resonance. The vowel filter, vocoder and transformer will all work well.

Try the demo of MXXX you will be blown away!

I just watched some videos of this dehumanizer so I am not sure hw versatile it is in the end. I have to say that the Melda plugins are extremely versatile for sure.

And yes: check out MXXX and MTransformer. I made some very useful (at least to me, hopefully to others as well!) presets regarding voice manipulation (monster, alien, "Smaug from The Hobbit"!, ...). Feel free to ask further questions regarding the usage of these presets. I am pleased to help!

Im currently in the middle of a three year project involving a lot of monsters. Are you looking for speech processing (where you can still understand what people are saying) or monster noises like roars and growls? Speech will restrict you more in certain ways.

Some good advice above and I'd echo everything said. The only one I'd add is that there's actually real-time convolution (unlike static convolution in MConvolution) in MUtility (I think its that, I'm not in front of a computer). I believe there's a math module and one of the operations is convolution. It convolves the two input streams together so you need two appropriate inputs. Can make some interesting sounds.

I'm liking MTransformer right now but it isn't suitable for everything. MVocoder is very flexible, but like MTransformer, its not suitable for everything. I'm hoping Vojtech makes an MMorph, he's hinted at it in the past. Personally I don't like the sound of dehumanizer, it sounds nasty to my ears and even though it's essentially built for the project I'm currently working on I'm not going to bother with it.

Having good source is unfortunately by far the most important thing!

It's in mixer inside MXXX.

Check out Dehumaniser II, for this type of audio work. It's a complete re-design of Dehumaniser, as a modular system with improved performance and DSP.

Most importantly, it is now available as a VST/AU/AAX plugin, which many of you have been asking for!

Take a look, and download the demo at http://www.dehumaniser.com/dehumaniser-II

1. Why do I have to register and "buy" (even for 0 $) a demo? I want to TEST something and not be forced to register at a companies site, while I am not even sure, if I want to stay ...
2. The video shows that this version of dehumaniser is just like a 0.1% MXXX version. :D
3. iLok ... seriously !!???
4. "has become industry standard". At this point I am missing that they say that it can do 1 billion things with 0 things costs / reources / latency and 3 trillion other things. What I am trying to say: I am missing the very big commercial numbers here, lol! ...
