Need a Pro account, then just go to Edit -> Replace File.

Just make sure it gets added to the group, post here that it's updated, and you should be fine.

Are Distortion, overdrive and bitcrusher effex allowed now? I thought these sound modifiers were not permitted :o

Those have always been allowed "in moderation". Bit crusher had a bit of a discussion in this thread, but as it can provide subtle distortion effects, it is allowed. As always, it's pretty much your discretion, just don't go crazy overboard that totally does something the synth can't do.

Ok cool

Hi folks

Working on this month's challenge... Inspired by Z`s host tempo suggestion, I've run into an area of rules that I can't find any previous clarification of.

Can you use a sub-host plugin in addition to your main DAW/host?
So, like using metaplugin or bidule to host the synth, within your DAW (in my case, Ableton Live)

Just like using Mux within Mutools, or Max-for-Live within Live - but with the difference that the sub-host is not built-in to the DAW itself so could be construed as using a non-free plugin. (But one that is not an effect, so not affecting the sound in any way, rather being used for automation/hosting type functions)

This came up for me because when Z` suggested running the host tempo at gazzillion bpm, my first thought was to stick the synth inside an instance of bidule-vst, which allows you to generate sync at different rates to the host, enabling the plugin to be running at whatever high bpm you like without messing with the bpm in the host itself.

Curious about any answers/thoughts/opinions! Cheers.

I think this should be fine as long as the sub-host is freely available... It's a bit like using plugin bridge, to me. But MUX wouldn't be allowed, for example, as it's commercial.

What's the max tempo you can get out of one of those, do you know? ;)

Thanks Z.
(Darn, wanna use bidule as it's so much quicker and easier for this stuff, but may have to resort to max for live as it's 'part of the host', given that bidule is not free! Jumping through hoops with this one!)

Last night I had podolski apparently running at up to 10,000 bpm inside bidule and it seemed happy enough. No reason to think couldn't go higher and my math isn't up to figuring out the limit (some formula with sample rate, block size, I dunno... and I guess different vsti's will respond differently to such abuse!) Certainly gave access to some interesting tones via the arpeggiator mod and lfos! I didn't try higher, and haven't really checked properly to confirm it was working OK, but it did seem to be doing what it said on the tin :D

I think the 2000 BPM range might be ideal. Bitwig only let me go up to ~600 BPM, so it was easiest to settle on a BPM a 4x multiple for the host tempo, but it still had some high pitched artifacts. Pitch +/- 24 with random LFOs @ 1/64, 2048 BPM seems like it should be getting close to noise.
