What will be the copy protection of the new version.
After demoing that I would buy it immediately, but as a burned child won't do Challenge/Response with small companies

No Dongles or C/R, the installation and activation is really clean and zero invasive. I prefer not to discuss this in an 'open discussion' forum, but there are just simple steps/instructions to follow without internet connections or else.
I kept it "simple" because I know that's something Users care of...

OK thanks. The important thing for me is that I can use it on a new computer without action from a third party.

I did use nLite to prepare the image for that particular computer, but mainly to enable some tweaks by default and most of all integrate the intel sata drivers, and not to strip it down for use with a netbook. maybe this had some effect on the installer, though. I always got a message like "please uninstall the old version by hand" when running the installer of a newer version, and then I had to get rid of it via "add/remove programs". it's the only plugin (I remember) to have such issues, but then, it was always worth itxhunaudio wrote:well, the installer I always used (also for ver 1.0 and 2.0) let you install/uninstall using the Windows integrated tool (Programs and Features).
EDIT*= "I heard around" that sometimes it *could* happen that the uninstalling process of a program on Windows is not performed correctly, but it could happen only on 'manually reduced' Windows O.S. versions (example : the one made by users themselve to fit Win in a netbook etc..., and removing components form Windows could cause this). But with a 'standard Windows installation' there should be no problem...
I like the idea as an alternative way of distribution. having the choice of using either of them would be killerTo say it all, I'm currently considering the idea to distribute everything as an "archive and folders" package, no installers, just the files. I'm not sure of this but it could be a nice idea (maybe better than an installer) with the distribution of many different plugin formats...
a new soundbank would be fantastic. plus I hope he will keep the update fee for "PLUS" reasonable, if any...EDIT*2= Daniel Stawczyk informed me that he is currently interested in making presets for LittleOne version 3.0, that could be translated in a "PLUS Soundbank" conversion/update and/or in a totally new expansion Soundbank... By the way, any choise he will take will be really appreciated
any hints on a release schedule for 3.0, provided there are enough victims volunteers for soundbank conversion?

Sounds great, thanks!xhunaudio wrote:After thinking a few minutes, yes - you're right Jeremiah, I think in any case it is better to use different VST IDs, some previous users would have the need to use previous versions for any reason (legacy track renderings etc....). So Yes, it will use a different IDJerGoertz wrote:...can you do me/us a favor and give v3 a new VST ID, and allow simultaneous installation with v2, so that installing the update doesn't break existing projects?
A well-behaved signature.

yes, at release time it will be VST2/VST3/AU for WIN(32-bit and 64-bit) an OSX(64-bit).
Then, AAX time will come (but it can also happen that AAX will be available at launch).
I think I'll miss OSX(32-bit) formats, since anyone is asking 'specifically' for that... Or, if someone wants it just let me know!
You can't always get what you waaaant...

Ok maybe I understood.kylie wrote:...and then I had to get rid of it via "add/remove programs"...
So it is possible for you to uninstall via the "add/remove programs" on Windows without problems...
But maybe you mean that you prefer to install a version of LittleOne AND AT THE SAME TIME keep the existing previous installations of LittleOne...
Well, that is something I disabled voluntarily to avoid things like "Help me, I installed 43 versions of LittleOne and I don't know which one to authorize..."

Thank you to all the volunteers that will help me with this!
After some fixes we can start with the presets...

not only that. it is necessary to perform an uninstall there before I can install a new release.xhunaudio wrote:So it is possible for you to uninstall via the "add/remove programs" on Windows without problems...kylie wrote:...and then I had to get rid of it via "add/remove programs"...
absolutely not. I would just like to start the installer and have my current installed version replaced. instead I get a popup that reads like this (just tried installing 2.9.0 over 2.8.3):But maybe you mean that you prefer to install a version of LittleOne AND AT THE SAME TIME keep the existing previous installations of LittleOne...
"Another Version of the product is already installed. The installation of this version can not proceed. To configure or remove the installed version of this product use "Software" from within the Windows Control Panel." The caption of the Window says Windows Installer.
so I have to remove the old version from within control panel and start the installation again (and put the extraction password again, in case I forgot to extract it to a temp folder).
got the picture? no, of course I don't want to have a bunch of different versions coexisting. just one.

Ahh, I got it.
Ok, you aim for an "update installer", ok
I have to select the distribution installer format for LittleOne ver 3.0 yet, as I stated in my previous posts.
Yes you're right, it's something I'll add - if the installer does support this.
(By the way uninstalling a previous version requires just few seconds, it's not a too big hassle

Hi TheoM,TheoM wrote:so glad to see you updating this and moving it to mac as well. The audio demos of little one really impressed me a hell of a lot, i thought, "what a fantastic sounding little synth".
Good luck with it, i've never been a customer as i'm not a windows guy so can't participate in the beta, but will check it out upon release.
Cheers
Sure , adding OSX compatibility is something I always considered important, and I'm very happy to finally release LittleOne (and future products) for this system.
Obviously when it will be released, a demo version will be available too

usually not. but if you have to open up the control panel and the "add/remove program" applet (no other software I'm aware of that I update on a regular basis does this) and wait for the list of software to appear (which takes one or two minutes, because it is quite a list) the uninstall process is a bigger hassle than you make it sound likexhunaudio wrote:Ok, you aim for an "update installer", ok

but then, it might be with my system only, and mybe others don't have a problem here. still it's something I'd consider a vast improvement.
