Have any of you compared this?

I just got a Jp08 and I was really loving it and considering keeping it, but the limitations were anoying so I launched Diva and tried to match the settings. It is very hard to match them because of the Jp08 tiny as hell controls but they do come up very close.

Diva sounds more smooth and silky (I hate this meaningless adjectives BTW) and the JP08 more RAW and darker, Roland have gotten very close to the top synths with their ACB thing (which I just suspect it is a fancy name for ZDF) to Diva. But Roland dropped the ball with polyphony and size, such a shame.

If only DIva existed as HW :( but I think I might get a System 1 to control her, a lot of controls specially in VCO2 mode.

I don't have Diva but i did compare it with the Arturia Jupiter 8v and i managed to fine tweak the sounds to match each other so i ended up selling the jp08.

There was also one thing that bothered me with the JP08 and that was a built in lag at about 60ms compared to my other hw in the same setup.

Didn't have the same problem with the System 1.

Would love to hear some comparison demos between the Roland Boutique synths, and something like Diva, or the TAL synths.

I won't argue about who's closer to the real thing, as this will be an endless debate loop, all I know is I had the opportunity to test the boutique jp 08 as well as the ju 06 and I happen to prefer Diva's sound in both cases (This is also applies for TAL uno).

I have read multiple reviews on Roland's jp, haven't tried it. Based on my limited experience, I would never trust a computer-based plug-in set-up for playing live (I haven't played live with synths in a long time, so it's mostly a non-issue for me). My set up (iMac and Cubase LE4) has problems very often, but acceptable for home studio recording. I would only trust hardware synths for playing live. But I guess people have computers that are only used for their music-related things that play live without too much trouble.

Roland Boutique soundwize is not on par neither with Tal nor with U-he. Nothing to talk about.

Altho I appreciate this thread because it's very funny. Especially and idea to sell real Jupiter 8 and replaced it with Arturia V.
Murderous duck!

Just uploaded a little demo, the patch is quite basic: just a couple of sawtooths slightly detuned and synced, little resonance, 24db filter.

The filter envelope on the JP08 can't open the filter completely so I adjusted Diva envelopes accordingly.

Cast your votes!

Personally I like Diva more but the Jp08 surprised me.

the patches are pretty different... the 2nd one has significantly more of a resonance feel.

To make it easier to match: program on jp08 1st... and then fine-tune in Diva

Only 2 voters so far. Yeah, that's popular, seriously popular thread.

No tuna in choices = no vote.

I like the first one better, but I don't know which one is Diva.

Me too.

Don't forget the question was "Which one is Diva", not which one you prefer. :P

First one sounds a bit harsher in the upper registers, and also a bit more clean, more predictable. I would say, second one is Diva, even though usually all of the u-he synth tend to sound a bit harsh to me, and it's the opposite here. Not sure which sounds "better" though, i think it's tough to say with only one, pretty basic sound.
