I'm guessing the bulk of the testers aren't there to test, but get free software before everyone else.. so big bugs get missed..

I don't know how many testers they have vs number of individuals submitting bug reports but there was a rather collection of reported bugs on the testing site that were resolved. I only submitted about 4 reports myself (2 crashes, 1 playback glitch, 1 GUI problem). It's a pretty damn deep program though so it's difficult to test absolutely everything, especially if you have a full time job and family.

Not going to name names, but testing was a lot more thorough cross-platform than some other companies, one of which has primarily wavetable synths...

My bad, my apologies. However, controllers without knobbies kinda irritate me somehow. And they look like candy. Which even irritates me further.

Does anybody now how to make it smaler?, I have 15 inch laptop and read the manual and it you do it by click/ drag the edges but it does not work for me in 32 bit ableton.

I'm not seeing the high usage. In fact, I'm seeing lower than Geist 1. So, it's not a universal thing.

I am testing Geist 2 in Bitwig 1.3.9. on a OSX 10.10 hackintosh and am pretty happy with most of it. There is just one major issue that I also had in Geist 1. Somehow midi mapping does not work. So everything that cant be modulated by Geist itself cannot be controlled by Bitwig. I am not sure though on which side the problem sits. I wrote both supports and hope they will fix it. Although Bitwig tends to still have some nasty bugs I must say that Geist is the only plugin with that problem.

But now the good things. Resizing the window works without any glitches its just flawless as it should be. The new GUI is lovely. Much better structured and the workflow is enhanced IMO by making little changes like putting the engine effects and send effect in one tab which is the global mixer. I first thought that the engine mixer was gone...
I also enjoyed the sliders that you can use to set up the envelopes for a sample instead of grabbing the handles of the overlay. Who is used to the old GUI has to keep looking around for some things which are a bit more hidden. But the are hidden in a clever way, but this plugin definitely needs some learning.

One feature I was long seeking is this (from the manual):
Convert timing
This function, available by right-clicking on a pattern memory key, allows the 'resolution' of a pattern to be changed without altering the position of events in the pattern. It can be useful if triplet steps are required rather than 16ths, for example.

You can finally sample directly onto a pad. I was first irritated because it looks like there is now way to slice things on that pad but one just has to right click on the layer tab and choose send to slicer. The slicer look just gorgeous!
There are some new effects like a VCA compressor, a transient shaper (finally), classic GURU filter, a new effect called Bloom that kinda replaces the audio freezer i guess some new EQs and other stuff. The vintage mode sounds really musicall IMO especially if used on a complete drum loop loaded onto one pad.

In total I am pretty excited about this thing and totally gonna go for it once I have the necessary money set aside

I haven't tested this against Gesit 1 but it seems to run a bit higher for me as well (feels like).

I'm on an iMac quad i7-2.8ghz (2009-2010) 27"/OSX 10.9.5 running a in Live 8 and the "One Only" preset at its busiest point was showing 48%-52% (paid version not the demo). There were no hiccups or dropouts in audio at all. And this type of cpu usage is not really a big deal on my end.

With that said... I am pretty impressed so far. I think they have done an excellent job of taking Geist a step or two further. Just the modulation options are pretty impressive on their own. Add to that all the improvements like being able to stretch it across my 27" screen and have it looking good at the same time and all I can say is that IMO, its money well spent.

If I had one small grip it would be the sluggishness when adjusting the panel sizes. For now I'm going to chalk it up to me having an older system and also running an older version of OSX. Either way its definitely useable.
