Something odd with the Synclavier save system. I can't seem to type capital letters. Holding the shift key doesn't seem to work. Even the caps lock doesn't work. I wonder if it's a Synclavier thing or a Cubase problem.
Anyway, it's relatively minor so I'm not going to get too worked up about it. I was just wondering if anybody else was running into the same problem.
Otherwise, getting some very unusual sounds out of this. Programming a patch does take longer with this synth than any other I've owned because of the architecture.

I think the Beast was only samples of the FM stuff of the Sync II anyway, as the sample collections were not covered - and the big sample libraries only came in with the third generation Synclavier anyway, not the Sync II, which only had mono sampling.V0RT3X wrote:From what I can tell with UVI's Beast is that it's just samples of the real thing.
As far as i can tell, the Arturia one does not have the sampler sounds.
So in the best possible scenario, you would want "both" to get the ultimate synclavier experience on your computer.

Just taking a Mini V patch as example, these are the controls I can tweakmurnau wrote:Only that nobody asked the obvious.Numanoid wrote:Still without purchased synths, there are almost twenty macro controls for each patch though, so that should make it as editable as Lethal at leastmurnau wrote:Edit only for the synths you have purchased. And users can combine any two patches (multi) to make even more personalised sounds
Cutoff
Emphasis
LFO Rate
Amount Mod 1
Chorus Dry/Wet
Level Osc 1
Level Osc 2
Level Osc 3
Level Noise
Delay Wet
VCF Attack
VCF Decay
VCF Sustain
Amount
VCA Attack
VCA Decay
VCA Sustain
Decay
Legato
And if using Multi, I can load two copies of the same patch to for example create a fifth by midi transposing one of them.
So for a Player I would say the tweaking that can be made is quite adequate for most everyday tasks.

I am curious if i get the smallest Arturia minikeyboard which is advertised with analog lab 1 - will it have it updated to v2? The bigger ones are all having it included already.
I may get that toy to be my togo keyboard when i have a few moments to play

The question was about full editing access (Do you think he didn't discovered Analog Lab 2 basic controls?). Hard to grasp seems. So for a Player I would say the tweaking that can be made is quite adequate for most everyday tasks.

I think any "smart" person would wonder why Arturia would give free access to the whole V Collection 5 tweaking via Analog Lab 2?murnau wrote:The question was about full editing access (Do you think he didn't discovered Analog Lab 2 basic controls?). Why then even bother buying V Collection 5, just get Analog Lab 2

I have had a chance to play them all now, the new guis really make a huge difference, I was finding some like the CS80 and Modular impossible to use they were so tiny.
Arp 2600 V3 - don't care if it isn't 100% like the original, I've always liked the sound of this and now having decent interface makes it much more usable.
Same goes for the CS80 and Modular V (esp like the Modular - great to have it take up the whole screen).
Love the new Farfisa organ - you can get some really interesting sounds from it (not typical organ sounds at all - more synthy) - of the other organs I still prefer the Vox but the B3 isn't bad - better than the recent Air one but not as good as Logic's EVB3 (but almost as good as NI B4)
The Jupiter is OK but rather boring (but maybe that is true of the original too - always thought Roland analogs were overrated - prefer things like the V-Synth)
Mini V does sound better - maybe not close to Diva or Monark - but in its own right can make some good sounds and the arp is great.
Matrix V2 finally works properly with my Kore - not really got into it yet, maybe the factory sounds don't show it off well and it's too complex to feel I've plumbed its depths yet
Synclavier is a revelation - sounds awesome - my current favourite with the Prophet close, then the Modular V
Prophet 5/VS 3 - still one of my favourites from the collection and the new interfacve really improves usability (although it always had one of the better interfaces) - same is true of the SEM
Solina - boring and blurry - the graphics don't seem as polished as with the others
Piano - interesting attempt - actually sounds better than the earlier models of Pianoteq but no match for the current version - however it is usable for less realistic, more synthetic sounds - just not so much for realistic piano.
The Stage 73 and Wurli just sound terrible - no presence or body at all, weak, somehow muffled, and just not enjoyable to play - the weakest parts of the collection imho
All have amazing cpu efficiency - which means they deserve to be run at 96,000 hz, the VA synths in particular sound much better that way.

Kevin [@ Arturia]
Why is sustain control via sustain pedal (cc 64) still not supported on many Arturia's plugs in V5? This has been an outstanding request for years on synths like Solina and Matrix (Arturia support have responded in the past that it would be 'Added to the list').
Usability/Playability of these plugs is diminished by the lack consistent Midi behavior here. It even 'sounds' wrong when you try to sustain layered plugs (e.g. in Analog Lab) when one of the plugs does not support sustain pedaling.
I've requested an option for instruments like Matrix12V and Solina which do not respect CC64 and indefinitely sustain volume envelopes. Others users have repeated my request.
So why does Arturia resist this request?
Thanks, Regards,
Kevin L

Not much love for Modular V? I find this to have some amazing sounds in it and insanely deep "programmability". Couldn't care less if it doesn't sound the same as the original, its a great instrument in its own right...aMUSEd wrote:I have had a chance to play them all now, the new guis really make a huge difference, I was finding some like the CS80 and Modular impossible to use they were so tiny.

edit: and the patch cables are much nicer in v3. Lots of noodling to be had at a fraction of eurocrack prices

I agree with you in parts, but why then call it "Moog" Modular V ?fallacy wrote:Not much love for Modular V? I find this to have some amazing sounds in it and insanely deep "programmability". Couldn't care less if it doesn't sound the same as the original, its a great instrument in its own right...
No doubt it is an excellent modular plug, but as it is sold as a Moog Modular it should sound like one too:
"Arturia, in partnership with Dr. Bob Moog, has brought you the synth that started it all. From Wendy Carlos's famous 'Switched on Bach' to Keith Emerson's live use, this huge modular showed that electronics could be musical thus being the catalyst for every synthesizer we see today. The towering modular synthesizer that has dominated the world of music since the 1960s has been revived!"

Oops so you did! I guess it's not talked about too much on here because it had "been and gone" in v1 and v2, but now is as good a time as any to mention that there's a lot of fun to be had with it, and if you take the time to learn it you'll come up with some great sounds even if they are happy accidents... I get the same sort of fun out of Reason with the virtual patch cablesaMUSEd wrote: Yes I mentioned it as one of my favourites

i really am disappointed about the upgrade prices.... especially if you just want the bigger guis you need to pay $99..... i mean $50 less would be more than fair, $49 for the gui upgrades etc. and $149 for the complete upgrade...
and the INSTALLER is a REAL pain, i have not much space on my SSD anymore cause the V4 already sucked up space and I STILL CANNOT CHOOSE THE INSTALLATION PATHS?!?!? sorry but this is UNACCEPTABLE in 2016!!!
there is no excuse, even i love your plugins i feel as a customer kinda ripped of and bad handled like izotope...
