Kevin ...

Does this mean that there might be some updated DSP in the older plugins?

On a tangential note, will the DSP changes in the Mini percolate down to the IOS app?

Cheers.

they clearly want to incentivise early-adoption, but I didn't bother since $199 is the typical upgrade price ... other than getting a marginally better deal from a 3rd party.

in the email sent to me about my personal V5 offer ... they initially word it 'For a limited time, get the V Collection 5 for 199€ instead of 499€!' ... which leaves the door open for some 'oh well when saying 499 that's not an upgrade price, thats just the full price' kind of excuse. which is of course an absolute stretch. especially since it's a false dichotomy ... because as an existing v-collection owner (which is clearly indicated in the personalised email subject), there's no way I will be expected to pay the full 499 euro price for the v5 collection under any circumstance. later on though they explicitly say 'upgrade to V Collection 5 for the special price of 199 4̶9̶9̶'
Yes, this is this crazy stuff because it suggests that existing customers must pay the full price of 499 and the 199€ upgrade price is not valid until June 30th.
With the 99€ offer they removed this "until XXX" so this seems to be the constant upgrade price for V4 plugins.
Anyway, Arturia should explain this or/and modify the account page so it shows the exact update/regular price for existing customers.

Off topic: In the 3D CAD software world, where a software package is cheap if it costs $3000US and typical if it costs >$10,000 - you buy the version of the software that year and that's it - you get updates for the year usually but when the "new" version comes out the next year you have to pay FULL PRICE again if you want it (there is no upgrade price for current license holders). I consider myself lucky to some degree with music software policies.

autodesk only stopped selling perpetual 3ds max licenses this year, and autodesk offer much of their software entirely free, for 3 years, to educational users.

but yes, off topic. completely off topic. so far off topic it boggles the mind why anyone would mention it in this context.

My apologies for attempting to contribute. (I shouldn't have said off-topic as there are many pages in this thread discussing software update pricing policies - I just wanted to share what I know about those in the CAD world. I'll just go away now and play with my new V5 install)

I just got an email from Arturia offering me a €200 discount on the V5 bundle because I own a Microbrute ... very tempting. Have got until June 30th to make a decision. :ud:

Hey Kevin,
what do you guys use for toilet paper in the Arturia offices ?

The EU Directive on Misleading and Comparative Advertising I presume ?

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/ ... 14&from=EN
misleading advertising’ means any advertising which in any
way, including its presentation, deceives or is likely to
deceive
the persons to whom it is addressed or whom it
reaches and which, by reason of its deceptive nature, is likely
to affect their economic behaviour
In determining whether advertising is misleading, account shall
be taken of all its features, and in particular of any information
it contains concerning:
(a) the characteristics of goods or services, such as their avail-
ability
, nature, execution, composition, method and date of
manufacture or provision, fitness for purpose, uses, quan-
tity, specification, geographical or commercial origin or the
results to be expected from their use, or the results and mate-
rial features of tests or checks carried out on the goods or
services;
(b) the price or the manner in which the price is calculated, and
the conditions on which the goods are supplied or the ser-
vices provided
Under the provisions referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2,
Member States shall confer upon the courts or administrative
authorities powers enabling them, in cases where they deem such
measures to be necessary taking into account all the interests
involved and in particular the public interest:
(a) to order the cessation of, or to institute appropriate legal
proceedings for an order for the cessation of, misleading
advertising

etc and so on.

if Arturia don't promptly drop the misleading advertising, users can consider reporting them to France's Directorate General for Competition, Consumption and Repression of Fraud (DGCCRF):

http://www.economie.gouv.fr/dgccrf/contacts

google-translate version:
https://translate.google.ie/translate?s ... t=&act=url

the DGCCRF don't play around, I know they fined Expedia something like half a million ...and I think they're after Apple for nearly 50 million but of course that is related to competition laws.

what's got you posting such flustered emoticons buddy ?

do you dispute the fact that Arturia are engaged in misleading advertising, or are you disputing that there is a legal imperative for them to cease engagement in such practises ?

or do you dispute neither, but still maintain some apologist stance that we should, you know, just like, you know, accept it man, cos like, whatever man lnikj got his goodies and he's content and that's all that matters ? ... because in that case, yes, just another regular day on KVR

I think we could just say that it is some loose wording that they will no doubt tidy up now that it has been pointed out to them?

I think we have all been around here long enough to understand the product cycles and pricing practices of Arturia and other companies.

An apologist? Maybe. I think Arturia are one of the better companies around here. Their support used to suck a bit but now they respond very quickly. Kevin is here and fixing people's problems.

Not really necessary to quote chapter and verse at them at this point is it?
