what's got you posting such flustered emoticons buddy ?

do you dispute the fact that Arturia are engaged in misleading advertising, or are you disputing that there is a legal imperative for them to cease engagement in such practises ?

or do you dispute neither, but still maintain some apologist stance that we should, you know, just like, you know, accept it man, cos like, whatever man lnikj got his goodies and he's content and that's all that matters ? ... because in that case, yes, just another regular day on KVR
I think we could just say that it is some loose wording that they will no doubt tidy up now that it has been pointed out to them?

I think we have all been around here long enough to understand the product cycles and pricing practices of Arturia and other companies.

An apologist? Maybe. I think Arturia are one of the better companies around here. Their support used to suck a bit but now they respond very quickly. Kevin is here and fixing people's problems.

Not really necessary to quote chapter and verse at them at this point is it?
'loose wording' ... you're definitely an apologist. no maybe about that.

as far as Arturia 'tidying up' the 'loose wording' now that it has been 'pointed out' to them (lol, as if they don't know what they're doing), I'm not so sure it is safe to assume that. Kevin has ignored the issue, though he has still been commenting in the thread even after people have been both 'pointing' it out and somewhat desperately looking for clarification.

so, since the Arturia representative is clearly ignoring the issue - I feel that, contrary to your apologist stance, yes it is necessary to 'quote chapter and verse' at them. at this point in particular, since, like, you know, they've ignored the issue up until this point. well, technically still ignoring it. but up until the point of 'chapter and verse', absolutely it was an ignored issue.

so there's no harm in reminding everyone, both Arturia and the consumer, that what they are doing is patently misleading and patently against the law. maybe now they'll 'tidy up' the accidentally-on-purpose 'loose wording' ... or maybe they won't. maybe no one but a couple of people give a shit. we'll see. it doesn't change the facts though ... it is misleading advertising, and it is prohibited under EU law.

Perhaps he needs to speak to the marketing department before replying? They might not be working Saturday PM. Anyway, I'll stop apologising for Arturia and just apologise to you instead for getting flustered. Peace 8)

Peace! :)

There have to have been some changes already, because the 3 synths i tried so far (minimoog, ARP, Jupiter), sounded totally different.

The ARP i practically couldnt recognize anymore. Seems to have lost all of its original character. I tested only briefly, (more time tomorrow), but to me it sounded like a totally different synth. Similar feelings about the Jupiter. And as for the minimoog, i tried to transfer the values of a preset from the old version over to the new version. Suffice it to say that it didnt work out. The preset sounded totally different, it definitely lost something in the mid-bass range and the treble range again sounded like it was from a totally different synth. Not good at all, because i have a substantial collection of presets in the old format.

No time to try any of the other classics yet, but will do so as soon as time permits.

PS: I cant believe that the Oscillator modulation by Osc3 (minimoog) still has that ancient 'reversed ramps' bug. It must be well over 10 years now, and all they would have to do is swap the ramps. (For the Oscs. Filter modulation is fine.)

And theres new bugs too. Jupiter: Switch between Upper and Lower layer. You will see the SourceMix knob and the ENV1 Attack slider 'jump'. Thats because these 2 items are placed in the wrong position on the lower layer. (Beta Testers!?)

I was hearing (demo) the lack of bottom end in arp. What do you think?
The other thing i was, hearing was more punch in modular. Dunno, maybe just a placebo effect.

Like i said, the ARP sounded like a totally different synth to me. I havent had the time for too much testing, but the minute i fired it up i immediately was like "somethings up, thats not what it used to be". All the character seems to be gone, filter and filter-resonance is completely different too, theoretically it could be any synth from any dev. (And like i said, ive had a similar feeling about the J-8, although i have only spent one 20 minute round with it so far.)

Cant speak to the modular, have yet to try it. Maybe tomorrow.

I like what I'm hearing in these synths, aside from the obvious GUI updates, my converters and monitors are producing a sweet sound, I've yet heard from Arturia synths before. Point being, these babies sound alot different to my ears, and in a good way.

Thanks Arturia for the update, great job!!

I can't think of a better use for the court system. Software promotion advertising is clearly the #1 threat to humanity today.

Other than that, I'm liking the Synclavier. I tried to paint a red slash on it in protest of how it was marketed to me, but it f**ked up my monitor. Who do I sue about that?
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

The magic marker company.

Lol, as if there were one ad which is objective. Mental slaves are too dumb for that.

More Jupiter Bug:

Switch PWM Modulation Source from M to LFO or ENV1

Readout for PWM Amount will be frozen

Switch back to M and the readout works again

(Affects only the readout, not the actual function of the slider.)

The install downloader sucks.... it won´t resume a download? Sadly i have a bad net and the Arturia servers seems to suck even more. No try no buy!!

So, if I purchase v5 do I have access to previous versions? Not that I'm planning to buy atm; seems buggy.

Seems unlikely ...

I own V4 and haven't got access to previous versions, so I don't believe V5 owners will either
