Icarus just needs to be tried out - hands on. I love it, and think you guys will too.

Some nice sounds...but nothing really outstanding yet which live up to the hype
Of course best thing is to demo it and judge then.
I was much more impressed with other synth demos.
But then there is no magic included, it's just another (good) synth i think.

Damn, Markus really like his cheeseball trance saw isn't it?
But i can hear the potential during some part when the demo doesn't try to sound like 90's trance track.
I think this one will be better than Electra2. Too bad i already own serum.

i like Gladiator and Nemesis a lot! Serum is hard to beat for me, so i am curious how it is compared to Serum!

If you like Nemesis, you'll love Icarus
(that's the way it was for me) And yes, forget the demos (I wouldn't buy it based on those), you really need to try it yourself

Yeah, thise demos seem a bit low quality, audio-wise. I think there are some good patches, but all really trancy and edm. Will demo it for sure.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:If you like Nemesis, you'll love Icarus(that's the way it was for me) And yes, forget the demos (I wouldn't buy it based on those), you really need to try it yourself

The demo tracks for Icarus on the tone2 site have nothing to do with the specific capability a wavetable synth should have. All these sounds can be done with nearly every good synth or samplers. And sound qualities heard in this demos are very weak.
But what counts in the end is what feature it has and how these are implemented and with which soundwise result. And the sound quality can only be heard with slow wavetablemorphing at high tones.
Regarding the workflow, I see many tabs and menus, there is no easy overview over the sound and only six entries in the mod-matrix, if you have more modulations you have to select a tab. Even for every Oszillator and Filter you have to select a tab.
In Serum you have a fast and easy overview over the sounddesign and see whats going on and of course a high sound quality even in high notes and slow wavetable-morphing, depending on the source quality of single cycles and wavetables.
Maybe Icarus will beat Serum in features and sound quality, but I doubt.
The workflow for sounddesign and overview goes as far as I can see for 100% to Serum.
But as mentioned before, a test of the demo of Icarus will show the truth, if all features can be used in the demo and it doesn`t switch off after 10 minutes of testing.

If i bought a synthesizer based on just the demos then i would probably be passing on a set of incredible tools. Especially in this scenario! You thow in that late night TV marketing jargon and my scam-senses start tingling.
However i know tone2 tools are fairly useful (ex-Saurus1 owner) and i am really quite interested in testing out Icarus and Nemesis.
I only sold Saurus because i bought Diva.

I can assure you this doesn't interfere with the sound design process at allMorpherX wrote: I see many tabs and menus, there is no easy overview over the sound and only six entries in the mod-matrix, if you have more modulations you have to select a tab. After programming a DX7 back in the 80s, I will never complain about multiple tabs on a VST.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:I can assure you this doesn't interfere with the sound design process at allMorpherX wrote: I see many tabs and menus, there is no easy overview over the sound and only six entries in the mod-matrix, if you have more modulations you have to select a tab. Even for every Oszillator and Filter you have to select a tab.(if you know what you're doing as opposed to switching random stuff, that is) I do favor one-page synths, but here I have no problem whatsoever
