I installed SM player 2.8 over 2.7 (no update). I use it on dozen of projects, and now, every synthmaster track is set to "SEQ PolySynth Sweet Dreams". Should I have installed 2.7 AND 2.8 ? I couldn't believe it! If there is something to save, please tell me...

I also made the mistake of using the setup instead of the update installer to 2.8.2. Now I have two problems:
1) When I load my projects, Vienna Ensemble Pro could not load the plugin. VEP said:

Errors occurred while loading plugins:
AU: KV331Audio| SynthMaster 2.7 Instrument (Could not create plugin)

I had to assign Synthmaster 2.8.2 to the instrument channel strips.

2) Once I load 2.8.2 I can't find my modified presets in the browser.
All my saved presets .smpr files are intact in a separate folder.

Prob #2 SOLVED: I had to load my saved presets by copying them to the /Library/Application Support/KV331 Audio/Synthmaster/Presets
I created a directory called Restored Presets but I don't see it anywhere but I see my presets ok.

Should I just rebuild my projects with the new 2.8.2 plugin and reload the correct preset or is there an easier way?

I hope updating doesn't create the same problem ( as opposed to running full setup installer)

I am gonna be testing this once more. Normally everything is backwards compatible, and SynthMaster never deletes presets saved under your Documents folder.

I just tested it in an old project using synthmaster in Logic 9.1.8, it worked fine and the selected preset was loaded.

For testing, I don't have an old project with Synthmaster in Logic X channel strips. but for now, it seems to be a problem between Vienna Ensemble Pro and Synthmaster 2.8.2

There seems to be a problem with the Player. I am working on it now!

Unfortunately, I didn’t find a way to recover my settings.

1° In the user area, only the full installer was proposed, not the updater (for the player).

2° In Reaper (must be the same in any DAW), every SMP instance opens with the default preset ("SEQ PolySynth Sweet Dreams"), regardless what preset was selected in a saved project.

3° My problem is not user presets, but that each project done with 2.7 opens in 2.8 with the default preset in every SMP instance. I work on dozen of unfinished project using SMP. Are they lost? Do I have any chance to recover the settings?

4° In SMP interface: if you want to change a parameter (polyphony, quality), the DAW crashes.

2.7 worked fine, but 2.8 is a disaster. So kv331: I want my setting back!

I am about to release an update for this today, the issue was fixed last night.

Yes, but I imagine the fix will avoid future users to lose their settings after installing 2.8. So all my previous settings are lost because 2.8 files replaced 2.7 ? Of course, I have no backup of the synthasmter 2.7 files...

Noone will lose anything, if you did not save your session after the load failed.
