MXXX Core equaliser

So many patches I am trying to open seem to need an equaliser but why is it that the requirement is one of the dynamic or auto ones? I can't see why sound designers would use a dynamic equaliser for a simple fx patch, surely the basic equaliser would be what was used in most cases? It just drives up the cost to make it a requirement to have one of the dynamic or auto ones.

Yes I know, but I still don't see why it's a requirement for the equaliser to be unlocked in MXXX when I would have thought a fairly basic equaliser would have been used for such patches.

As pone says, the dynamic eq is way more flexible. For instance, the low/high pass filters are way better for clean up work and there are more EQ types (16 vs 9). The dynamic EQ is my default eq, even though I rarely use the dynamic features. Point being, there may have been a reason to use those specific EQ's.
As for it being a requirement. Well, it's just based on the licensing model, if you own that plugin, you get access to it in MXXX core. This wasn't part of their original plan, originally only the full MXXX was available, MXXX core came later after people asked for it because MXXX was so expensive. With that in mind, Melda would have to have gone back through all the presets people had submitted and ensured that every single module someone has used in a preset has been the minimum necessary for it to work... that would have taken ages.
It doesn't 'drive up the cost', there's nothing stopping you from building the preset yourself with the modules you own
I guess I'm not a huge fan of using other people's presets though. I gain a lot from building my own stuff.

Exactly!
I personally use only MAutoDynamicEq, all the other equalizers are not needed for me anymore. Of course the preset designers had to choose one when creating the presets, so what they chose is what is there now
. No way around it...
