saving MIDI from VST sequencer

Hi. I'm trying a VST sequencer. The first item in the rack is the sequencer. The next item is a MuLab synth. When I press play on MuLab, the sequencer starts and I am able to adjust the controls and hear the change. However, when I press record, I hear the metronome and everything proceeds fine but no MIDI is recorded. I'm guessing the VST MIDI info is sent to the synth but not to the track for recording, right? In this example, I'm not using any external devices.

You can use the event recorder module,
