i know diva is a hard hitting cpu killer

does anyone what cpu & ram etc is good for ideal using ??? thx

Name ten synths that are heavier or just as heavy on the CPU.

1) Kaivo
2) Diversion
3) Aalto

I don't think there are many synths that are heavier then Diva. In that thread there are some mentions, but those aren't heavier on my PC at all. I am running Diva at the highest settings btw.

You are still not getting to the point. Name them

. As i said, there are mentioned synths in that thread, but those (apart from diverdion, aalto and kaivo) aren't heavier on my pc compared to Diva.....dunno what you are trying to do here...

If I wouldn't be lazy I would mention that I've tried Monark which per voice eats way more cpu than Diva, then proceed to Lush 101 that also eats way more cpu than Diva, then proceed to recently tried Diversion that eating even more CPU and then search around KVR for others. But I'm quite lazy and in chk071 and others I thrust.

My point is Diva was released 4 years ago and since then CPUs become faster and plugins become way more consuming. Say 3 plugins mentioned above have bigger per-voice CPU consumption than Diva.

Diva is fine on modern i7 systems. I run an i7 2.66ghz cpu think it's a 920. Factory clocked at 2.66ghs with 12 gb ram on an Evga X58 mobo. Diva works fine and I did an original demo track on the beta back in the day with 12 instances running on and off. This also included vst fx plugins. Nowadays it's still fine and depending on the patch etc I use multicolor where relevant.
I have to agree in my experience Diversion, LuSH 101 on pads and multi timbre presets into a box of rice krispie. Monark can be a beast.
I truely believe getting the right combo of cpu and a good quality mobo is the best option and getting the bios settings right. Test using the day benchmark programs and check you don't have silly apps loaded in background. I will confess often enough I'll have chrome streaming on the 2nd monitor on landlines without issue. If people are getting issues with 2016 cups then I must be very lucky.
