I was just reading a review on Sound on Sound (last month's issue) on the Sonnox Envolution plug-in (envelope shaper). First I'm curious as to there being a Melda effect that does what this does. The Transient designers do part of it, but I suspect there's nothing quite like it in the Melda lineup. The Envolution plug-in looks pretty sweet to me.

This feature request is in response to something I saw in the UI - the SoS review did not mention it at all, so I'm guessing what it does. In the little box which the Bypass button occupies has another button next to it: Diff. This would be a natural complement to Bypass in any context the bypass makes sense. I'm assuming Diff flips the phase of either the input or output signals, sums input and output and routes that to the output. Brilliant, IMO. I'm surprised this feature isn't found all over the place. Am I right in thinking this would be a universally welcome capability?

There already is a diff button in all melda plugins.

EDIT:
My bad, not ALL plugins have this.

Good heavens - I have never noticed this before! I'm not surprised though, since every time I look at a new Melda video, there's always a ton of stuff of which I was previously unaware.

Actually, this is a good time bring up something I've been meaning to mention for some time. I do wish Vojtech would take a serious look at massively revamping the documentation. Every FX plugin has pages and pages of boilerplate general behavior information, so much that the specific function of the effect is at best hard-to-fine and at worst lost entirely. At the same time, if there were a general Melda-wide manual covering the all the standard features we see in many places (well-indexed and with a great table of contents being absolute requirements), earnest students would have a chance of actually learning how to use all these many, many features.

The videos are great, when they happen to cover the information in which you're interested, and they do help one to discover hidden functionality gems. But I have to be honest and say that in its current state, the documentation does not live up anywhere close to the quality of the software.

I have to agree, the pdf manuals are very chaotic. However, Vojtech has a finite amount of time, if he sorted the manuals but took his attention away from making a new plugin, would you be ok with that?
They definitely need to sort it at some point but, I can live with amazing software and poor documentation for now.

I was not suggesting Vojtech write the doc. Rather he should (budget allowing) farm it out to a pro documentation writer. Great software authors rarely make good writers of English. Vojtech has shown that he can, in fact, write quite well - in English at that which is not his native language. But even if he does have the requisite skills, like you, there's no way I want him take time away from the principal goal of producing his crazily powerful music enabling software. :)

Hehe here's the thing - the plugins are so deep that all the features just need to be somewhere. And despite there is a lot in common, it is actually changing from plugin to plugin! ;)
And btw. that's to DarkStar the docs will be finally English in V10 :D. It was a hell of a work for both of us :D

Actually, Vojtech's English is very good indeed. All I needed to do was revise a few areas of grammar and some phrases.

So it is really true, that all that plugins have been written by only a single man: you?!? Incredible.

There are a couple of one man shows around in the plugin world, but I wouldn't have thought it of Melda. Way too many great working plugins.

Cheers,
Masi

PS: While I agree that the manuals could contain a bit more information about the plugins that is sadly true for most plugin documentations of other vendors (bigger companies, more expensive plugins).

Thank you!

Sort of yes, but I employ others for website, marketing, videos etc. But as far as the plugin development is concerned, it is sadly just me :D. I'd like to get some big brain to help me, but still haven't found anyone worth it :( . I'm quite a demanding person :D.
