Just checked the Tone2 Facebook page and now there seems to be a "public beta" of Icarus:

I did not check this as i got a full license but without a proper key file this should be running as a kind of demo mode.
The official Tone2 forum now also has an Icarus sub-forum:

Whoa! Today it will be compared to my virus and then totally biased and absolutely irrelevant opinion will follow
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Synth sound is really nice and pleasing, i like the sound alot actually, but GUI is horrible, but at least not as horrible as all other Tone2 synths.
I dont understand why Tone2 cant rid of that 3d illusion with knob position markers. Why bank and preset info has to be so big and other strange GUI decisions.

Well, sounds is really nice (but nothing really unique these days). It´s a new good sounding synth but the UI is not nice (for me). Blurry UI´s in 2016? (look at Factory f.e.)
It´s a good 7/10 for me in this stage.

Its sounds ok, nothing revolutionary here, still haven't fixed the Mac installers . Why the blurry output meters ?

By far the best Tone2 synth i tried so far in terms of architecture. Most of the stuff from the other Tone2 synths is in there, and more. The filters sound as good as the ones in Saurus, there's also a gazillion of them in there, the GUI is well laid out. A small niggle would be that you can't edit the oscillators on one page, but always have to flip pages, but copy paste settings is very easy. No stereo oscillators it seems, which is a bit of a blow for me, as you can't control stereo spread of the multi oscillators. Nice new "snappy" setting for the oscillators. Haven't yet dived into the wavetable oscillators and editing (unfortunately after, like, 15 mins? it shut down the synth with a nasty hanging tone
), filters sound nice to me, nice and snappy with the envelopes, still a bit of an artificial resonance sound, but i figure that's what people call the "Tone2" sound to a degree, i still can't get a hang of the arp without checking the manual
, mod matrix works fine, delay fx is easy. So much for the first impressions.
Definitely the best Tone2 synth i tried so far, if i can say that at this early point. Really looking forward to fiddle with the demo more.

Could be an interesting synth for ambient sounds... The interface is IMO very easy to use and remembers a bit to other Tone2 synth. Additional settings are behind the "tool" tab. Wavetables also from Serum can be loaded... sounds is IMO a bit more pleasing (compared to Serum).
I have not touched the waveform/wavetable editor but there are maximum 36(?) wavetable slots and every slot can be edited as expected.
Hypersaw types for the osc sounds interesting, Hyperstereo seems to spread the detuned saws to create big stereo sounds. Not bad.

Right, i missed those when i wrote "only mono oscillators".4damind wrote: Hypersaw types for the osc sounds interesting, Hyperstereo seems to spread the detuned saws to create big stereo sounds.

Icarus could have up to 256 wavetable slots. The maximum amount of the Wave selection knob is also adjusted to the maximum amount of waveforms in a table (means if you got e.g. 200 waves the maximum value of the Wave knob is 200 too).4damind wrote: I have not touched the waveform/wavetable editor but there are maximum 36(?) wavetable slots and every slot can be edited as expected.
