Wow, that doesn't sound too good :?
But then again, if it is a beta, they can still iron things out...

I can get quicker and better results if it comes to resynthesis of phrases with Icarus. With Serum I never got the desired results. With Icarus it works with one click and the phrases are good to understand. Maybe you have a trick with Serum for resynthesis eg. of phrases? (I always tried to import with FFT and resynth and modulated the wavetable position)?

Icarus got multiple Resynthesis modes also depending on which source material you use, including a mode for "noisy" material. The additive Resynthesis mode imports waveforms without phase informations.
The "Granulator" Resynthesis mode could deliver some interesting results (a Morph mode with that name exists too).

I had used the Resynthesis to import some Waldorf wavetables (e.g. the original 32 PPG Wave ones) from a recorded "wavetable sweep" (using a simple envelope). The "clean" way would be to record and edit each single waveform and re-bulid the wavetables from those (which is possible in the wavetable editor of Icarus) but i was too laty for that and the result was also nice in this way.
Also tested the Morph modes rendering feature (e.g. FM or phase distortion) to create slightly different/new wavetables from those original wavetables.

Markus from Tone2 just did an interesting post in the official Tone2 forum (posted in german):

The "import wavetable" feature in the wavetable editor curently does not work but in the future this should support loading wavetables from different wavetable synths. At the moment this alraedy seems to work with WAV files from Serum and Falcon (and WAV files saved in Icarus usually could be loaded in those too). This also included compatible WAV files like e.g. those save in Audio Term using the Serum format or the Galbanum WAV wavetables. For those no resynthesis is needed to load them, you could simply use "Load Wavetable".

This is a quick test.. first Icarus and then Serum with the phrase "alright".
Both using a similar method to walk through the table (ok, I don't know how the resynthesis works with Icarus and used the default "Easy create patch resynthesis" with Serum there are some options with the FFT size).

Icarus feels like an amalgamation of best bits of other T2 products. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's going to a great tool box as there's so much you can do. I don't feel like I need another T2 product though, so selling Nemesis.
I suppose the price is automatically selected for the geographic region or country so that European customers effectively don't pay more than Americans, despite VAT. A nice policy that should be standard in the software industry :)
Except that US buyers or anyone outside of the EU are paying a VAT included price which they shouldn't be. Er 149 euros is 167 dollars today, where does the 199 dollars come from ?
In an email from Tone2:
FAQ:
Q: When will it be released?
A: We plan to release it at the end of June

Q: What price is it?
A: Eur 149 or $199

Q: Where can i find more info:
A: https://tone2.com/html/icarus.html

Q: Where can i find technical details:
A: https://tone2.com/html/icarus%20technic ... tails.html

Have a nice weekend!

This is pretty much why I'll be passing on this one. I love Tone 2. Have Rayblaster and Electra 2, but I can't see myself spending $200 for this.

But I'm sure it's a quality synth like all their others.

I know. We all cry ourselves to sleep here next to the glow of our 52" flat screen TVs.

Just wait till the first impulse buyers try to get rid of their licenses on KVR :hihi:

Luckily, you don't have to...it is only 199 dollar :hyper: :D

Zebra 3 will become the master of everything if it is ever released. :D

FM sounds pretty good in this one. I had no luck in making it as agressive as Virus two-oscillator FM, but on the other hand it sounds much cleaner. Came up with some nice patches, potentially usable for mad psytrance leads.

On the other hand, I'm pretty dissapointed by the filter saturation, it's either barely noticeable or too dirty in a bad didgital way, regardless of the chosen mode.

How do I control the unison stereo spread? Is it even possible?
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Yeah... we already have beamers and VR goggles here, and they still do with flat screens? Jeez... third world or what? :clown:
