I suppose the price is automatically selected for the geographic region or country so that European customers effectively don't pay more than Americans, despite VAT. A nice policy that should be standard in the software industry :)
Except that US buyers or anyone outside of the EU are paying a VAT included price which they shouldn't be. Er 149 euros is 167 dollars today, where does the 199 dollars come from ?
Given the pricing it makes no sense to pay $199 dollars...select €149 euro and let PayPal make the conversion.

You would indeed expect VAT to be removed for US buyers.

I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on this, but I think as a US citizen with a US Paypal account, I don't have a choice. I don't think there are two buy now buttons. I think I click on one and given I have a US PayPal account, it automatically gives me $199 to pay.

I know. We all cry ourselves to sleep here next to the glow of our 52" flat screen TVs.
Only 52"? That is indeed depressing  :D
Yeah... we already have beamers and VR goggles here, and they still do with flat screens? Jeez... third world or what? :clown:

I'd be surprised by that. I can use PP to buy things in any currency. In this case PP would charge me whatever currency option I select on the ShareIt page.

Well, is it 199 USD for non-Europeans?

What I'm suggesting is non-europeans select the euro payment option and see if the price shown is €149. If it is then that should be what you pay, which should come out less after PP currency conversion (for me PP gives me the conversion rate before paying).

e.g. If I had selected £ I would have paid £127, but I selected € and paid €149...which PP charged me £121

I tried and its seems paypal follows whatever currency you pick from the shareit order page...

If it is, that is just plain theft , sorry. It should cost the US buyers $136 (€121 is less VAT price) You can only charge VAT to buyers in the EU. If you are a VAT registered business you can claim it back. In the US that doesn't exist. Goods and services are exported to those countries outside of the EU.

Can someone from the US look at the shopping cart and check to are you being charged VAT, either way you are being ripped off by a huge degree, roughly 50% more than you should be paying IF it is $199

1. What are exports?

For VAT purposes, exports are goods directly dispatched to a destination outside the EU VAT area. The term EU VAT area means the EU with the exception of those territories that in general are parts of EU Member States but are not regarded as being part of the EU for VAT purposes. See pdfEU States & Codes (PDF, 81KB).

The zero rate of VAT applies to all supplies of goods that are transported directly by or on behalf of the supplier to a destination outside the EU VAT area.

OK, it shows about 185 USD for me. I guess that's OK for such a synth, not sure if I need a new synth anyway, but if I decide that I do, then I'll go for this one.

Yesterday I put the demo side by side with Dune 2. Man! Dune 2 is great. I won't sell it to get Icarus. Given that I purchased it discounted, so I'm not sure I want to pay extra to get Icarus.
If I don't have Dune 2, I would save for Icarus. For me they are in the same group of the sounds wanted although there is still a noticeable difference in the character.

Other wavetable synths are completely different in sound like Largo, Codex, ...etc. so no point comparing them.

Anyway, I don't remember that I bought a soft synth for more than $100!! It's almost a rule for me but I might make some exceptions ;)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I'm from Russia. Tone2 do weird conversion into Russian roubles (this was before the sanctions if that matters). They show me 149 EUR or about 12000 Roubles, which euqals to 163 EUR/184 USD according to the Russian Central Bank, but actually I have no other choice than pay in Roubles. I guess, they are charging for the transaction or something. When I bought their Saurus it was the same.

Actually, my first impressions were kinda similar. I thought "it sounds pretty similar to Dune2 but better". But when I put them side by side, I was no more sure which one of them sounds better. Still, the factory presets are similar but feature-wsie there is not much overlap between them.
