Luckily dune2 has audio rate modulation possibilities, which, for me, is a huge plus. I love to use osc's as a modulation source.recursive one wrote:Actually, my first impressions were kinda similar. I thought "it sounds pretty similar to Dune2 but better". But when I put them side by side, I was no more sure which one of them sounds better. Still, the factory presets are similar but feature-wsie there is not much overlap between them.EnGee wrote:Yesterday I put the demo side by side with Dune 2. Man! Dune 2 is great. I guess, both Marcus and Richard had Virus as their reference (both failed to nail it though but now in 2016 we all know that trance is crap, so it doesn't matterchk071 wrote:It also reminded me of Dune 2 on some of the trancey factory presets. Maybe Markus took a look there.

No trashing here. It was stated it this thread that Markus from Tone2 bought Virus while developing Icarus, so comparing Icarus to my Snow was the first thing I did - I could get them close at basic settings but overall they don't sound similar. Despite some factory patches seem to be aimed at approximating certain Virus presets, something important (for me) is missing.ATS wrote:recursive one wrote:I guess, both Marcus and Richard had Virus as their reference (both failed to nail it though but now in 2016 we all know that trance is crap, so it doesn't matterchk071 wrote:It also reminded me of Dune 2 on some of the trancey factory presets. But consdiering that people generally think that Virus has been surpassed by plugins long ago, this shouldn't be understood as anything derogatory.

How did you get $136?!?woodsdenis wrote:If you are outside of the EU it should be $136 !!!!!recursive one wrote:OK, it shows about 185 USD for me. I guess that's OK for such a synth, not sure if I need a new synth anyway, but if I decide that I do, then I'll go for this one.

Not trying to defend their price policy, but there is no "should be this or that" really. I'm curious why they charge more for people from non-EU countries too though. Maybe someone feels like asking over at their forums.

Yes, the design is different, but I really don't know either which is better! One thing to be sure is that if I am into modern dance (I'm more into Disco kind of dancerecursive one wrote:Actually, my first impressions were kinda similar. There are so many ways to modify it while playing, and this is essential I think in Live composing/recording.
It is a wonderful experience when you put some Trance/House beats and start playing the keys and modify the various parameters. Big fun
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

includes 23% sales tax/VAT to EUR 121.14: EUR 27.86
So it should be EUR 121.14 for anyone outside the EU or anyone inside the EU with a VAT no.
EUR 121.14 = $136.32 in todays exchange rate. Even with fees etc they are charging a crazy price difference.
They cannot charge VAT on exports outside the EU, if they are they need to explain themselves. See my previous post re EU VAT etc.
What Uhe do is to give the Dollar price and then add the VAT for EU customers. The exchange rate is then governed by their checkout vendor which is always a little above the daily exchange rate. What T2 are doing is crazy IF they are charging VAT or $199 to US customers.
It should be $136.32 without VAT or $167.68 with the VAT.
Both cases way off $199

If that's true, that's just plain crazy. How does any US citizen buy any of their synths with such a price difference?woodsdenis wrote:Total: EUR 149.00xx JPRacer xx wrote:How did you get $136?!?woodsdenis wrote:If you are outside of the EU it should be $136 !!!!!recursive one wrote:OK, it shows about 185 USD for me. I assume you live in the US, if you do go to the T2 store put a synth in a cart and post a screenshot. I can't as I am in Ireland EU. If they are charging VAT or extorting the dollar price there is something not right or fair going on.wagtunes wrote:If that's true, that's just plain crazy. I can already tell you that's exactly what will happen because when I purchased Electra 2 and Rayblaster last year on sale (got a whole $10 off on the one) I paid $189 for Rayblaster and $199 for Electra 2.woodsdenis wrote:I assume you live in the US, if you do go to the T2 store put a synth in a cart and post a screenshot. I'm not really sorry I did because I love the synths, but if they were selling for $149 Euro, then it's the last time I'll ever buy a Tone 2 product and pay that much more than everybody else.

If thats the case you are being ripped off, sorry no other word for it. You paid 50% more than you should. Terrible business practice T2wagtunes wrote:
