I also see the pricing as a part of the topic. Let it be the best synth in the universe, but if the pricing is not right, then it doesn't matter the technical discussion!

IMO it should be only one price. With VAT for EU and without VAT for the others. It is simple as that!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Ingo, I'm sorry but in this case you're wrong. I would absolutely consider purchasing this synth but their pricing policy for US citizens is plain unfair. And it WOULD be nice of a Tone 2 rep would come here and explain why the difference. Other reps from other companies discuss things with the forum members. I don't see what the big deal is.

Tone2 Euro/Dollar pricing is the same for most all their products and that for a quite long time so it is NOT just related to Icarus.

I am closely related to a few companies like e.g. Tone2 and Waldorf and i am not in a position to discuss certain things about those and their products in public (and besides that also do not really want to as respect to the related persons and their products), no matter if i agree with a certain topic or not.

I am no "official" representative of Tone2 Audio (even if it sometimes looks like that...) and both Markus and Troels from Tone2 will not post here at KVR. Bastiaan (who sometimes posted here in the past) was ill for a VERY long time and slowly starts getting things done again. I am sure he will also not post again at KVR soon (or maybe never). My own "job" at Tone2 is doing beta testing and sound design, everything i post here at KVR is just for my own "fun".

So you got two options to ask this to those: By asking/posting at the official Tone2 forum (for which AFAIK you have to be a customer of one of their products) or sending an e-mail to them.

Nobody asked you to discuss it... just ask Tone2 peeps to come do so... and of course you are free to just say no...

Looks like beside the official Tone2 website both Best Service and JRR Shop do sell Tone2 products too (Icarus not availabkle from those yet):

http://www.bestservice.de/en/tone2.html

https://www.jrrshop.com/tone2

AFAIK discounts/sales usually should be only offered on those, not at the official Tone2 shop.

For new products like Icarus it should take a while until sales are offered at those redistrubutors mentioned above.

At the end of the day companies have a right to sell products at different prices in different markets. e.g. NI sell the same product at 100 dollars or 100 euros depending on where you live. What's odd here is that Digital River don't adapt the currency and add/remove tax based on where you live. To me that's an eCommerce issue across the T2 shop. If I lived outside the EU I would query the VAT charge directly with T2 support.

Back on topic...
What I see is that a number of presets use a wavetable which is not shown in the dropdown list of wavetables...and I don't see the name of that wavetable in Icarus folders. Does this mean that presets are saved with a wavetable contained within? If so, I like that idea for sharing presets.

Wavetables and single waveforms are saved within the preset (*.fxp) files (with a size of 2048 samples per waveform). To save space there si a feature to cut out the currently selected waveform if you only use one. You could also cut out unsed waveforms form a wavetable (parts that are not used at scanning).
At deactivated Oscillators the current waveform will be cut out automatically when saving a patch to save disk space.

Personally i mostly used my own custom wavetables and waveforms (e.g. a Moog Slim Phatty waveform with the "Hyper Brass IW" preset based on a sample of the real thing). If you had saved that custom wavetable as WAV file and re-loaded that WAV file the name should also appear in the display at the oscillators.

The factory wavetables and waveforms (all in WAV format) are saved in a folder at the installation path (vstplugin path) and you could add your own ones there too and/or delete some or all factory wavetables if you like. if you added them theer they should also appear in the drop-down menu.

Great. I just found a bunch of Ti wavetables on t'internet and they load nicely. Here's a quick preset: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pmg9h6df781ca ... 3.fxp?dl=0

Will be possible export wavetable to Dune 2?

Be careful if you are sharing samples...

Saving wavetables is currently only possible as WAV files with a size of 2048 samples per waveform. Not sure if DUNE 2 could import such WAV files. I have not used DUNE 2 and the latest updates for a while (just downlaoded the latest version to check it...).

The "import wavetable" feature in the Icarus wavetable editor is not implemented yet (and AFAIK should be added in a later update). Not sure but maybe this will allow importing DUNE 2 wavetables. UVI Falcon could import DUNE 2 wavetables but could not save that format AFAIK.

Directly loading WAV wavetables in Serum format is already possible (same about the corresponding format in Audio Term and teh Galbanum WAV wavetables). Exported Icarus wavetables should be also compatible in e.g. Falcon if you add "_2048" at the end of the file name (= the size of a single waveform).

UPDATE:
Just checked the latest version of DUNE 2 and so far there is no official wavetable editor or an option to import WAV wavetables. So far ihad used Audio Term to create custom wavetables for it while there wavetables are imited to 33 different waveforms. You could also load those DUNE 2 wavetables created in Audio Term and export them to Srum format to use them in Icarus.
Also had a very early Beta of a simple DUNE 2 wavetable creator/editor (i was a tester and factory presets designer for DUNE v1 and also got a free DUNE 2 NFR) but that seems to be a bit of a PITA to use.

Dune2 uses wav 2048, but you need a WT creator to join them up to make them useable.

Thanks for detailed info Ingonator.

Btw. Falcon can not export any wavetable. Or I dont see any option to do it.
