To be precise the 4 main envelopes are AHDSR so they got another "Hold" step after the Attack.
Simple wavetable scanning could be done using e.g. LFO1 in ENV mode (e.g. with a Saw Up waveform). That way you could control teh Wave scanning amount with teh LFO1 knob in the Osc section without having to use the mod matrix. In this example the LFO1 mod amount will control the end waveform in the table.
For a simpe Decay envelope (= like a Saw down LFO in ENV mode) you could also use the fixed envelopes in the mod sources.
For more complex envelopes than the AHDSR you could eitehr use the Step LFO or one of the more com plex LFO waveforms/modes (in ENV mode).

There is no real discussion necessary imho. The fact is like i stated in my previous post. Either way, you loose stuff. 1 or 2 lfo's, or the aux env's. All i am saying, is that it would be great to have a modular t2 synth. That's all. With more flexibility in terms of full blown lfo's, envelopes and multiple arps/steppers (like in spire for instance; 2 steppers + an arp section).Ingonator wrote:To be precise the 4 main envelopes are AHDSR so they got another "Hold" step after the Attack.

How awesome would it be to have "unlimited" lfo's and arps? You must agree right?? That would certainly beat a fixed 1 s. env point for sure!

Please, don't always quote them on their marketing bla. The cheese you will have for dinner is "premium" quality too, even if you bought it for an extremely low price at the discount market.exmatproton wrote:This isn't relevant to this shortcoming of their proclaimed "...masterpiece and the most powerful wavetable synthesizer on the market."
Regarding your point: I don't need more than 3 LFO's, or 5-10 envelopes. And i don't have many synths which have such a feature set either. A synth can't have everything. Sometimes the limitation in some regards is the source of inspiration, to quote some sentimental KVR wisdom.

Thank you for this information, for those wishing to purchase Icarus or any other T2 product it seems buy from Uncle E at the JRR shop and NOT the T2 shop, US and other non EU buyers will save $50 plus on purchases.Ingonator wrote:Looks like beside the official Tone2 website both Best Service and JRR Shop do sell Tone2 products too (Icarus not availabkle from those yet):

AFAIK discounts/sales usually should be only offered on those, not at the official Tone2 shop.
For new products like Icarus it should take a while until sales are offered at those redistrubutors mentioned above.

Ah, but that is the crux, isn't it. They sell it like blah blah blah, but the synth itself isn't on par with that....chk071 wrote:Please, don't always quote them on their marketing bla. That you find no need for those particular mod capabilities, doesn't say it shouldn't be there. Luckily there are synths enough which can do what i ask. About having limitations; i don't really want limitations. I want options. When i ran this demo, i was busy 3 minutes and asking to my screen why the mod options were kinda limiting...but that's just me, a.k.a. subjective...
To be honest, i wasn't even bitching. Just saying, nothing more...and i do hope they will release a modular synth in the (near) future. Would be fun for sure!

Only for interest, are there some Serum user's who pulled the trigger and bought this Beta version?

I'm still seeing $199 at JRR even if I put it in my cart.woodsdenis wrote:Thank you for this information, for those wishing to purchase Icarus or any other T2 product it seems buy from Uncle E at the JRR shop and NOT the T2 shop, US and other non EU buyers will save $50 plus on purchases.Ingonator wrote:Looks like beside the official Tone2 website both Best Service and JRR Shop do sell Tone2 products too (Icarus not availabkle from those yet):

Show me the synth which is totally up to par with every marketing claim made. Good luck.exmatproton wrote:Ah, but that is the crux, isn't it. You may need to create an account, I see all T2 synths at $149 Electra 2 etc, Icarus is of course not there yet.aMUSEd wrote:I'm still seeing $199 at JRR even if I put it in my cart.woodsdenis wrote:Thank you for this information, for those wishing to purchase Icarus or any other T2 product it seems buy from Uncle E at the JRR shop and NOT the T2 shop, US and other non EU buyers will save $50 plus on purchases.Ingonator wrote:Looks like beside the official Tone2 website both Best Service and JRR Shop do sell Tone2 products too (Icarus not availabkle from those yet):

I noticed this, but no ability to use an oscillator as a mod source is a mistake, IMO. That really opens things up for mayhem.Ingonator wrote:FWIW the LFOs in Icarus go up to 440Hz so they could be used for audio rate modulations.

I own Serum since it was released and I really still like it. But I always missed the possibility to have control over formants in wavetables. The resynthesis engine in Icarus is pretty good with lots of creative morph modes. Serum has a different sound when it comes to filter saturation and subtle distortion. So both synths have value to me.4damind wrote:Only for interest, are there some Serum user's who pulled the trigger and bought this Beta version?

JRR are a US store there is no tax element in their prices. Often you will get a better price when you add to cart depending on what deals they have on.woodsdenis wrote:You may need to create an account, I see all T2 synths at $149 Electra 2 etc, Icarus is of course not there yet.aMUSEd wrote:I'm still seeing $199 at JRR even if I put it in my cart.

Seems like an amazing Synth from the specs regardless of the past indiscretions of the developer.
Worth remembering that new and upcoming producers that aren't battle hardened to the pathetic shenanigans
from tone 2 viewing this Synth in a completely different light.
I am almost tempted to purchase it myself, but nah any developer that punishes paid users at the expense of potential lost sales is not a developer I can support.
I guess in the end developers like Xfer (Steve Duda) who also produce an equally excellent wavetable monster clean up on big sales, in the long run.
