More randomness in the Awful series (sitting in an airport, this mix might sound especially awful):

Don't let him fool you Rites... He made a pact with demons and they sprinkle magical demon powder on all his music to make it sound good.

Trying to make a trap remix of a popular 90s track... sounds like flung poo... anyway... I mentioned a lot of info in the Podolski thread here: viewtopic.php?p=6477762#p6477762 . There are lots of things at play, but basically it starts with getting good gain staging, good eq on the tracks, and then decimating everything by pushing it too hard to the limiter.. or not that last bit, maybe just get the levels boosted appropriately there

I have a lot of Noisemakers running. I have my system maxed out, effectively. So I Cannot use any plugins or automation to mix, let alone master. I really have to render the tracks to wavs and start a new window to mix them. The audio files will not be changed, mangled or whatsoever, just mixed with plugins. I can do that, right?z.prime wrote:Basically, I think if someone can take the project, delete the frozen/bounced tracks, unmute source tracks, and render the EXACT same track, it's fine.liqih wrote:1. and 2. should be possible if it's only for CPU saving, since appyling effects on the master bus or on an exported mixdown, then reimported in the DAW, is just the same to me, wrong?
This precludes doing things like moving the audio around after it's been bounced.

That's a hard call. Technically, you could copy your old project, delete the Noisemakers, and add in the wav files. Essentially replicate the original project with the wavs so it is easily demonstrated what you're doing. Is that similar to what you described?ThePresent wrote:I have a lot of Noisemakers running. That is what I did. I have a project where it al was created. I copied that and deleted all the unused channels, fx and busses. That is what I call my "export" project. It contains all the noisemakers I'm using and all the original midi files that go with it. I used that version to render all the noisemakers to tracks, sometimes bundling groups of noisemakers where I used the synths to layer sounds. The tracks are all rendered (without fx plugins) in that project. Then I deleted the noisemakers and saved the project as the mix-project. The sounds in the mix project are the same as the sounds in the creation project, unaltered, just mixed with plugins, reverbs, compressors, eq's, etc etc.bjporter wrote:That's a hard call. I could provide the original project with the dry and mixed renders, no problem. I've never done this before in OSC, but as I stated, my pc can't handle any more plugins, but you will all understand once I submit and provide the numbers of Noisemakers

If your DAW supports it, you could freeze the tracks and group them together, then apply effects to the group track... Or route the frozen tracks to busses that contain the effects.

Looks like ThePresent has Cubase 6.5, which has exceptional freezing capabilities, so he's in for a treat.jasinski wrote:If your DAW supports it, you could freeze the tracks and group them together, then apply effects to the group track... I might try that and see if my system can take it (I fear that will be the bottleneck) and if I still have time to redo my mix (holidays are coming). But then again the result will not differ, frozen tracks or renders. It's really all the same.bjporter wrote:Looks like ThePresent has Cubase 6.5, which has exceptional freezing capabilities, so he's in for a treat.jasinski wrote:If your DAW supports it, you could freeze the tracks and group them together, then apply effects to the group track... If it's to much of a hassle I will go with bj's idea to use the unaltered renders. Thanks Aj and bj!
