About the PITA install process when your plugins folder is different than default.
Maybe the installer obeys the registry key you can change in regedit.
Look and edit under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VST\VSTPluginsPath
and/or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST\VSTPluginsPath
It should work with all future VST plugin installations.

Can anyone else reproduce this 'bug' for Synclavier V (in inverted commas as I'm not sure if it's as intended to copy original hardware)
Load Synclavier V on your host (I'm running Ableton 9.6.1 64bit on a Windows 10 machine)
Load the patch 'Duck House' or 'Duck House 2' from the Arturia Picks category (as this has an easily hearable overtone)
Hold down any note on your midi controller AND WITH THE NOTE STILL HELD DOWN slide the 'Voice Chorus' dial up and down - nothing will happen to the sound
Now release the note, and go back to holding any note down again - this time turning the Voice Chorus dial with that note held should now work and you'll hear a bright overtone (presumably as intended)
Does this happen to anyone else ? It's like the dial isn't properly initiated or something until a second note is played

I also realised that some parameters only seem to be updated on new notes. Don't remember which ones they were. Could be the chorus. I was thinking it's a "feature" recreating the original Synclavier behaviour.

Yeah that's what I was wondering about too - Like an actual 'it's a feature not a bug' for once !

Just got this info by mail now, but I already have got Analog Lab 2 upgrade
Is this just a reminder for those who still haven't got round to checking it out?

I just got it too.
The "V Collection 4 Update" went down from my €149 to €99 for me too.
As an upgrade from V Collection Classics - this didn't sound right, but I think it *is* the newest (V5) versions of all the V4 synths.
I'm wondering if I should just bail out at this point, and "upgrade" to Diva.
I started this whole exercise because I wanted the Arturia Mini V.
Then I realised that I could get 5 synths (and Analog Lab) for the same price (less actually, because V Collection Classics was on sale).
Then a month later, everything is updated - and I have to pay some more. Instead of being able to update the synths I have, I have to go with this "V Collection 4 Update".
Maybe it's just me - but it just feels like a pretty cheesy way of doing things, and seems to keep changing as the weeks go by. I'm going to play with Divas mini moog emu first - and if I like it - maybe just forget about the Arturia upgrade paths. Who knows - the whole V Collection 5 may go for $100 at the end of the year

In my account the update from the "v4 update" to the full v5 collection is now a constant 99 €/$, It was not really clear because there was a "until" date which is now removed. So I expect this is the same for all users already updated with the v4 update?
Btw. if somebody missed it, they updated some plugins (5?) to 3.0.1 yesterday with some bug fixes and added also a resizing handle to the Modular V3...

Diva is IMO still worth the money, but I get better/quicker results with the V-Collection and with this now usable GUI. I have not touched Diva since the V5 updatejbraner wrote:I'm wondering if I should just bail out at this point, and "upgrade" to Diva.

Interesting comment 4damind - I'm still trying to figure out what to do.
So can you verify that the "V4 update" is all the newest (ie the V5 versions) versions of the synths?
See - I'm thinking something like Diva will be quicker since everything is in one place.
PS - I'm honestly not in "bash Arturia" mode - I'm just trying to work out what to do

Yes, there are two ways to upgrade either upgrading v4 to v5, meaning all the included plugs in v4 get upgraded one notch. Or upgrading to full v5, getting the five new instruments as welljbraner wrote:So can you verify that the "V4 update" is all the newest (ie the V5 versions) versions of the synths?
Diva is a great plug, but I don't see how that can cover all the sound capabilites of the v5 collection ?See - I'm thinking something like Diva will be quicker since everything is in one place.
If you want a simple solution and everything in one place, I suggest to get Analog Lab 2, which gives easy access to more than 5000 patches, covering all the sounds most of us will ever need.

Numanoid has already answered this.jbraner wrote:So can you verify that the "V4 update" is all the newest (ie the V5 versions) versions of the synths?
I don't think it's quicker if you load a Minimoog and a Jupiter 8 on 2 different tracks instead of loading the same plugin twice.... but Diva is not comparable with Arturia because you can also combine different modules with Diva.See - I'm thinking something like Diva will be quicker since everything is in one place.
But with Arturia you can also use the Analog Lab where you have access to _all_ synth in one place with the option to edit them (if installed with a valid license). A side effect is, with Analog Lab you can also use presets of the Synclavier, Farfisa etc. without having the plugin and/or a license for this new v5 plugins installed.
With Arturia you have dozens of synth/organs etc. not found in Diva but Diva has also stuff like the JP8080 with the Supersaw emulation, the Juno etc. not found in the V Collection.

Thanks Numanoid and 4damind.
You're right about using analog lab as a front end for your registered synths. I was thinking in terms of loading separate synths to browse sounds etc (as far as being "easier" or "quicker")
I guess my timing was bad - as far as beginning my "relationship" with Arturia
I also guess that's why I got V Collection Classics so cheap in April.
I was just starting to play with Analog Lab, and could go in and edit mini moog sounds etc...
Then the new version came out and I tried Analog Lab 2 - but of course, then I couldn't edit anything :-\
Meanwhile my only upgrade option was €249 to full V5.
Then eventually there was the upgrade to "V4 Update" but it was never clear what versions this was going to give me - and it was €149.
Bear in mind that I'd just bought the classics collection, and had hardly used it.
€99 is much better for V4 update - but that price just changed today.
(As well as a better explanation of what you actually get - but thanks to both of you for verifying it)
Bear in mind that this just started with wanting to play around with a mini moog emulation. Also notice that I don't make any comments about which emulations sound more like a "real" mini moog - because I don't have a f*%@ing clue!
I'm not too impressed with Arturia as far as handling the upgrade though - but I know I've got my KVR buddies for support, and questions etc.
Maybe the "V4 update" does make sense...
(I can always pick up Diva later, the next time I come in to some extra money...)

Anyone have a link to this list of differences. I remember when they first intro'd v5 there was some comparison on arturia's site but I cant find it anymore. So now they got me interested again with v4 collection for 99, but then Id like to see what Im missing out on in the v5jbraner wrote: Then the new version came out and I tried Analog Lab 2 - but of course, then I couldn't edit anything :-\

Bug not feature: JUP-8 controlled with M-Audio Oxygen 49 key, moving a midi slider VISABLY MOVES the onscreen slider, yet the sound didn't change... moving same onscreen slider with mouse DOES change sound. Ima try a reboot, but something tells me it is more than that going on....
UPDATE: in the stand alone, slider works fine. Inside REAPER DAW, slider moved but didn't change any sound. Reassigning the midi IN Reaper and it works now. Weird.

VST2, VST3, or AU? Because I think this might be a known issue for VST3 in REAPER on Windows.wwjd wrote:UPDATE: in the stand alone, slider works fine. Inside REAPER DAW, slider moved but didn't change any sound. Reassigning the midi IN Reaper and it works now. Weird.

it was VST3 IIRC. Yeah, seemed weird it would MOVE the visual fader, but not change sound. That kind of coding is beyond my comprehension... but I guess it is NOT like a physical knob
Not a deal breaker either, just a minor annoyance
