Hi all,

This is Satin's maintenance update, following the update of almost everything else last August. We fixed a few issues (mostly host-specific), added the rewritten VST3 support and the Preferences panel.

Please check it out, we would like to release this ASAP 8-)

Note: Like every recent release, this will be the last version to support MacOS X 10.5 and Windows XP. If you need to work with those systems, please help making this build as perfect as possible!

Thanks,

- Urs

Changelog:

Bug fixes:
  • The 'previous preset' button was sometimes not responsive after navigating into an empty folder
  • Maschine 2 crashes when creating an empty project or quitting Host after recording automation for Satin
  • Wavelab: Using UI sizes other than 100% could garble the GUI - fixed in VST2, still the case when using VST3
  • Metering: dim Ghost levels are shown in Satin's Meter
  • Modulation rate may be different from Satin 1.1
  • Samplitude: Deactivating Satin's Bypass mutes audio on the same track
  • When grouped, unlocking a parameter freezes the GUI
  • Flanger: Waveform reversed at 0.50 when MIDI triggered
  • Naming of Groups was no longer possible under certain circumstances
  • LogicX: Possibility of crashes when reordering or removing instances
  • Display shows '1' and '0' for some switches instead of values
  • Preset parameters not spread correctly among grouped instances under certain circumstances
Known issues:
  • Windows installers might get flagged as malware by some anti-virus checkers (e.g. Avast)
  • Using the bypass or the 'bypass tape' button causes short audio click (alternative was phasing, we went for the middle ground here)
  • VST3: GUI resizing not working correctly in some hosts
  • VST3: presets with 'dot' character in the name won't display correctly, and up/down navigation jumps to first preset in folder
  • VST3: MIDI Learn page not working correctly
  • VST3: GUI elements not reacting when being controlled by certain CCs (e.g. 1, 2, 11)
  • VST3: Cubase inspector: preset name display not updating after program change
  • AAX: Undo/redo does not recognize mode switch (studio, delay, flange)
New features and improvements:
  • Added Preferences panel
  • New VST3 support - see VST3 readme
  • Improved MIDI learn functionality

What do known issues mean?

Are these points no bugs but still remain? Or have these issues been fixed?

Thank you very much for the maintenance update.

These aren't bugs per se. Some things are compromises (click vs. phasing), other things are out of our hands, such as waiting for features to be implemented by host developers.

The virus warning thing may be fixed some time in future, once we get a new installer system going. But that change isn't done in a week or two.

Thx for the update, Satin works great on VST3 - no GUI resizing problems under Cubase!
But what's little strange and not really a problem: In Cubase 8 if using Satin on a mono-track only the left level on the pegel meter works - with the vst 2.4 version of satin both levels (left and right) are shown.
Soundwise the result is the same, so it's not really a problem...
