It's not as bad as Nemesis - less folders by far - but it is concerning that they don't listen to people saying this is a bad idea.

and it stays like that no matter what hosts I try and load it in whether au in Logic or VST in Bitwig.
What a lame bug. You're totally right about adding the tiny size instead of a proper large size. I was hoping for exactly the same thing.

In FL Studio the size button resizes to a small player screen, like below.

But then when I reload the plugin and I want to switch back to large, I get this.

Reloading the plugin again it's back to normal.

Definitely needs some work...
Super weird. I'm running FL Studio too and don't have this same issue. Might be related to OS or FL version. Shouldn't be happening either way.

So far I think what it does better than Serum (which it is clearly out to compete with) is more morph modes (Serum calls the knob 'Warp' but it's pretty much the same idea, just biggerised) and much better sounding fx, plus an extra osc. On the other hand it has much more basic LFOs and envelopes, a wavetable editor that is harder to use by far, and a cluttered tabby interface that makes it impossible to see oscs and filters side by side (plus a weird counter intuitive filter knob layout) and no graphical fx editor.

Post

i dont know, i tested serum and there's more differences then that to my ears.

its the character of the synth, the same way hardly a (pad) will sound identical in absynth vs omnisphere, sure you can work hard to make it happen but will it be worth it? all that time

altho serum is a great synth with really good quality i foound it to have a character wich i couldn't dissociate from another synth i already had... there's some diferent tones in tone 2 approach that instantly resonated with me...

diferent music, diferent persons,....,....
the same way i wont problably use icarus much for my ambient project... rather use absynth in there problably

but yes, i agree better modulations in Icarus would make it more appealing :P

If by Noise of Death you mean the hellacious ear explosion that I got when first opening the "demo/beta" version in Logic, it nearly blew my ears off, pegged every meter and caused me to fling my headphones off my head ASAP while lungeing for the plug-in Off button. In the deafened calm that eventually returned I tried to get the thing to maybe open the way other Tone2 demos have after showing me the Thank You for Trying screen, but nada; clicking on it just launched the T2 website, adding insult to injury.:(

I haven't gotten any noise when the demo ends I don't think....the sound just cuts out for me. What kind of sound are you all getting? Like crazy distortion or something? FYI that if anyone noticing weird stuff has the time they would be doing Tone2 a favor to email their support about this kind of thing. During the public beta is the best time to get things fixed.

Absolutely right, did so immediately. I WANT this thing:)

Would love to hear more about that, see a demo, hear about the steps req'ed, etc.

Great!

FYI to anyone wondering, you can contact Tone2 through their support email at support[at ]tone2[do t]com. If you have any inquiries or bug reports or requests or anything, contact them if you have the time. Tone2 doesn't participate in KVR discussions so these observations may go unnoticed if people don't get their word in now. Hopefully this info helps someone who wants to get their voice heard before Icarus is released :D.

Tone2 are great but they don't always do updates post-release, so now is the best time to contact them about any concerns you may have. This is a public beta (which they don't always do for their new products) so anyone is free to get their word in. Again, you can contact Tone2 by emailing them at support[at ]tone2[do t]com. Any feedback is appreciated, otherwise they wouldn't have done this beta publicly.

Btw, for those who would like some more envelopes, and LFO's in Icarus, Markus replied to that in the Tone2 forum:
You will find 14 additional Decay envelopes here:
Matrix->Decay 4ms bis 16s

15 additional Sinus LFO's:
Matrix->Sine 1/64 Hz bis 16Hz

2 additional Brick/Hold envelopes:
Matrix->Keyressed
Haven't tried that out yet, so take it for what it is.

Not spotted that. Only the various fixed stereo unison options.
Didn't find that either. I really wished they implemented stereo oscillators (for all waveforms), and a unison spread AND stereo spread parameter.
If that's what you search for the Stereo Hypersaw modes (like all Unison modes) works with all waveforms, not just Sawtooth. It does not seem to be possible to set the stero width with those.
I used the Stero hyperxsaw modes for mopst of my patches and often using a single osc was enough to get big/fat sounds. The "Detune" knob in the Oscs is to detune the Unison modes.
I asked about this and here is what they said:
This works with the Unison 2 and 4 stereo. If detune is 0 the signal is mono, the more you turn up detune, the more detuned and the wider stereo image it will output.

Post

I also asked about that in Tone2's forums, here's what Markus replied:
Adjusting the stereo width works like this:
- Load up surround encode effect
- Set parameter to center
- Set "Mix" parameter to 50%
Supposedly works with the Hyperstereo modes. Again, i haven't tried that out yet, so, pinch of salt, and stuff.

FYI to people that Tone2's forum is for previous customers. If anyone new to Tone2's products has feedback about Icarus, the support email I listed above is the way to go :).
