Recently, i've played around with the Dark Zebra, to see what impact the Diva filters on different sounds have.
In the bass region it surprised me that the XMF filters of (normal) zebra in most cases sounded more convincing than those of Diva; maybe because of the option to drive the filter.
Putting a distortion module in front of the D-Filter didn't had the same effect.
Second observation was that out of the Diva filters the Uhbie gave the best results with a huge gap to the others...it seems to be in a league of its own.
Having worked with some of the hardware-synths with the modelled filters (like Jupiter 8, minimoog, etc) i wonder if the modelled filter of the "uhbie" is better than the other ones, or if the emulation of this filter is specially successful (or if its my subjective taste). This filter has a subtility and a plasticity that is just amazing...specially in combination with the possible waveforms in Zebra...

All the filters have their own karakter. It sure is a question of taste. I like the ladder the most for instance. Uhbie is nice as well, but a bit too silky for my taste. It fits (imho) certain patches though, that for sure.Arrested Developer wrote:Recently, i've played around with the Dark Zebra, to see what impact the Diva filters on different sounds have.
