Great idea. It would mean that two of the regular top 5 artists only occupy 1 placement instead of 2 placements at top 5 :D ..not that it would help me much though :scared:

By the way, congrats to the winnings. Well deserved IMHO :tu:

suddenly I could no longer stress. So I write my songs fast. Often in hour, two.

But the thing is. I can keep on writing like this. Every day.

But I can not polish old songs. So I make little pieces I offer for free for people to use on youtube. .

I like making music at this point in time. In the future I may stop. But right now. I like doing it.
Dear aluode, I don't know you, but when I listened to your entry for this OSC 87
actually I felt something that resonate with me about human frailty, it's simpe but delicate track
you submitted. So I hope you would not stop.
That is why I do this.

Expecting your songs to fare well is really stressful. Trying to polish them. Trying to do your hardest
so that people would love them.. It is tough on the psyche, especially if you can not do it..

But if you let go of that expectation. If you just make music for yourself and you like it..

It is much less stressful.
Exactly! Too much expectation is really bad for our mind.
And moreover if one makes music exposing features like frailty, quirkiness, weirdness, obsessions,
can make GREAT art, but surely would not hit the OSC spot so masterfully descibed by bj in
bjporter wrote:Just to clarify, that wasn't a call for conformity. Really great tracks are weird... actually the best ones probably are. But most people are already familiarized with a certain sound, thus making it hard to appreciate or even start to understand it. ...
I guess in a statistical sense, maybe this works too. If you take all the OSC voters, and map out their interests in music, you'll find a sweet spot... a spot where most people overlap. Jasinski hits that spot with laser beam precision.
frailty, quirkiness, weirdness, obsessions, hardly fit or hit the entertainment spot in a 4 minute song, regardless of the mix quality.

No way, this would make a crack in the fabric of space and time.
You don't understand the powers you're working with !

geez, I'm late!
MANY COMPLIMENTS TO THE WINNERS!!!
Three of my five "5s" are winning prizes, so I'm happy :)

Me too I'd like to try some collab, one day. Perhaps with someone who would likes to share the sound making process, and take care of the whole mixing/mastering stuff (this just 'cause i have no other talent to offer, if any, than songwriting and arranging). But different OSs and DAWs could result in some difficulties.... still, i'd be courious to see what could be done :).

Wow, yeah, a collab month would be something cool to happen and see. :)

How about pairing the top scores and bottom scores up from the previous month? I suppose daw compatablility is an issue.

Yep, and it really helps to have a rock-solid synth like Synth1 or something because DAW crashes are no fun at the best of times, let alone when you are swapping the project back and forth across the Pacific.

Polodski for example was great because that thing would work just fine on Raspberry PI powered soley by a potato

Thoughts Brian? Maybe we should kick this over to the General Discussion thread?
