Yes you can have look at it like some sort of space ship modules which i am sure most of you are doing but in the essence they are drum loops and samples wrapped in a box with usual scripting and macros. Nothing new really. Parsec was truly spaceship module

They could put their forces in making other improvements indeed. But no they are building blocks of things which happen to be possible to do in Reason since version 6.

I hated Audio Retromatic Transformer not because it was bad (it's damn usable) because i immediately heard that it contained sound character already available for years inside of Reason. But no Reason users attacked me and told me it is groundbreaking new RE processor. Years after - it turned to be Combinator consisting of reason internal effects hidden behind Fancy GUI. So basically they asked people to create amazing presets in combinator with internal reason effects and then they wrapped it in _GUI.

ok, to some of your points. I did not give my opinion on the drum modules, I merely refuted an earlier point not made by you that these were just rex loops in a fancy wrapper. these are actually cut-down facsimiles of Strike by Air (UJam's head guy used to be with Wizoo and Air) I don't remember saying they are revolutionary, and I prefer other drummers in VST World, but it is a product that fills a need at least for me in the reason sphere, and in sheer useability, I would put it somewhere near EZDrummer(ish).

I don't remember the Reason community being really that animated about ART to be honest, and it was fairly common knowledge that these were packaged combinators among the PUF. But since you raised a point, I will give you an analogy: There's nothing about Reaktor 6 and the new "Blocks" Feature that couldn't have been done just by making an ensemble out of of Reaktor cells in R5.x either. but the Reaktor community is pretty happy about them anyway. sometimes a better UI is a good thing, and lets face it, Props had 4 major version upgrades, became a full audio DAW, and ushered in a completely new plugin format in between the release of Reaktor 5 and 6. Native Instruments obviously has been busy on other things (partly packaging synths for sale for use within reaktor rather than improving the base program) so not a real comparison, but still...

Look, I'm as exasperated by some of this as anyone, and all I really want is a sampler that can disk stream and round robin, and drag and drop MIDI that doesn't create a seperate useless piano module every damn time. (really, who actually wants or needs it to be the way it is?) I have sold my reason license 3 times only to buy it back later. I get it. it's still fantastic software, even with the warts and the missing stuff, and the slowness of development.

I suppose a good thing about this "combinator", is that it can be put inside of a Combinator...

Almost as bad as not having this extraordinarily basic, "tiny yet much wanted" feature yet will be their attitude when they finally include it.

If Props holds true to form, it will be a major selling point of R11.

Agreed. Nobody is more of a fanboi as I for reason. It's stable, fun and does what I need....at a cost. You have to jump through some "not 2016" hoops to get there.

Oh well, no use bitching about it, at least the new version (like 8.3) is really stable and it's not like I'm forced to update. Later on the in the 8 cycle there WERE workflow things added, I'll reconsider at that point if (if it happens)

This update is better than the last one, at least for me. when 8 was announced, with 2 not very great amp sims, and some drag and drop, I sold my R7 in a rage on the PUF for 175. 6 months later I bought R8 here for 150, so my upgrade made me 25 bucks, lol. At that price it was a great upgrade. I like the themes, the pitch edit mode, and I will use the player devices for ideas. so I'll pony up the dough for this one. Really wish they'd fix the MIDI import already though.

Yeah, it's not a crappy update, but they completely ignored workflow requests.

BTW, one thing I really DO hate is what they loosely call "audio to midi", that's just lame.

yeah, its just what you can do with any daw that has a pitch editor. oddly the best at it is Ableton, and even though the engine obviously works well (and with polyphonic audio too) with Abes you can't actually use it as an audio pitch editor, weird. hopefully Live 10.

Yeah its down on my end too. I imagine they were getting hit pretty hard with the Reason 9 release only hours away. Outside the typical expected bitching here it seems there is a lot more excitement about this release than when version 8 launched. I've been incredibly impressed with the beta and think its going to be very solid release for the Props. I'm hoping Reasontalk gets it back up before release time hits because itll be cool to hear some thoughts after it goes live
