friend Taron would tell you more, my simple view is that since it's a simple melody I would harmonize it with a second voice when you repeat the theme.

What do you think
  • play the theme once and add the second voice in the second half of the theme
  • play the theme once, single voice, repeat it with added second voice
Done both now ...

So far I like the theme once and the second half of the theme harmonized,
but I would use a closer intervals and louder controcanto, maybe that could be enhanced
too using a slighly different timbre, like what you have when two singers do that.
(A rough example not releated to your theme) one sings
C4 B3 G3 A3
and just above the other goes
E4 D4 B3 C4 or E4 D4 D4 C4

Hey guys!

I wanted to participate in the OSC for a long time. This month I was finally able to do that. So here's my entry:

https://soundcloud.com/programator2-1/back-on-track

Track details:
DAW: Podium Free
26 instances of NoiseMaker
Track Effects: Saturation Knob, TDR VOS SlickEQ, BitterSweet II, TDR Kotelnikov
Mix Buss: UpStereo, Luftikus, SonEQ, TDR Nova, Limiter No6
and SPAN as analyzer

I enjoyed making the track and hope to push my limits further creating tracks for the upcoming challenges.

Hello everyone, as per my promise I have had a go at making a 50's/60's track! Basically late 50's style bluesy type backing with a 60's styled solo guitar. Hope you like the fusion. :)

The track is called "Vintage Noise on Filter Drive" - respect to all at TAL!

To add to the vintage sound I have used the WatKat vst tape echo (emulation of the WEM Copycat) rather than a modern digital reverb. You can hear the "tape noise" at the end of the track! :hihi:

Presets made from init or modified (heavily) from the fine set by Jasinski (thanks). :tu:

DAW: Reaper 5.211

Track: details
22 * TAL Noisemaker (for the noises!)
12 * ReaEQ (for equalisation duties!)
4 * TAL Reverb 4 (on percussion busses)
3 * TWest Saturator (for "bulking" out the lead sounds - not to change the sounds)
2 * WatKat (on lead sounds busses)

Master:
TDR VOS SlickEQ
Ferric TDS
Limiter No. 6

DR: 7

Song chords for all to enjoy:
  • C-Am-Dm-Gaug ... 4 bar intro!!!!!!

    C-Am-Dm-G
    C-Am-Dm-Gaug
    C-----Caug
    F------Fm
    C-Am-Dm-G7
    C-F-C-G7
Enjoy - and singalong!

Ok, Rob, if you really want to make this thing insane, like really fantastic, make a beautiful solo e-guitar come in later to play the main theme, totally power ballad, and you'd have a stunning piece! But it has to be real nice, crying solo, you know. I think, that would completely do it!

That's super cute! Has a great chiptune feel to it! And I like the portion of madness in it, too! GREAT to have you on board! :tu:

Feels like a Metronome. :uhuhuh: (watch the finger of the smiley! )
I would go as far as saying: Never do that!
Think about breathing, think about human rhythms, heartbeat, the complete body rhythms of walking (not just the footsteps, but the hip and torso thrusts for the momentum, all very similar to heartbeats!).
The moment you go metronome, you take out the human factor, detaching the rhythm from living emotion...not possible to relate to, you know. It kinda makes it sound cheap, as well, as a result.
Pour your humanity into it, the beats of your life! :hyper:
