Hi I have a problem with my computerrunning tracktion, when i workm with a song and have 10 to 15 midi channels and are going to record a wav channel, like record a electric bass, i get a clicking sound on that channel. Can it be because i only have 256 M RAM?
im using a 2.4 GHz processor on my laptop with a M-audio USB sound card.
So, the problem is as fast im going to record a audio channel when i have 10 midi channels theres a clicking sound.
By the way, otherwise i love Tracktion been doing som deephouse traks and som instrumental hiphop tunes and it's so easy to use.
Thanks and keep up the good work

It's quite intense work for your computer to record an instrument, let alone run 10-15 midi instruments at the same time. I've always been told that 1 gig of RAM is a minimum for music production, altho that's if you like to run a lot of plug-ins and have complex tunes. My spe cis 2.8 P4 and 1 gig of RAM and still most tunes run at +50% cpu. Before you get more RAM tho, check you haven't recorded the instrument so that the volume is too loud and the track clips - that also would cause pops and clicks. Another option is to record with the minimum midi instruments possible and then once recorded switch them back on.

yeah tracktion clicks all the time with samll amounts of ram
youll also find that if you dont have stupid amounts of ram the T sampler will cut portions of playback out completly terrible bug but hey that is the enigma of T
the price of ram nowadays its pobably cost you more to post the question
upgrade because you need to anyway
if it still happens start moanin at Jules

What are your soundcard settings in Tracktion(# of samples, latency, etc.)?DjAcari wrote:Hi I have a problem with my computerrunning tracktion, when i workm with a song and have 10 to 15 midi channels and are going to record a wav channel, like record a electric bass, i get a clicking sound on that channel. Sometimes an aggressive setting can lead to much poppage. I run a Dell Inspiron 4100 PIII and find 10ms of latency with an Echo Layla 24 to be pretty much bulletproof.
If yer maudio usb unit (quattro?) is usb 1.x, you could be seeing bandwidth issues on the usb bus. I find it hard to believe during playback, but it's a possbility.

i have this problem with my M-audio FW410 that it sometimes picks up the SMPTE timecode from the digital ins and turns it into an audio click. Really annoying.
Otherwise shut down everything else you have running bounce or freeze everything you are not recording (some romplers like kontakt still guzzle up ram when they are muted)

I note that you already have 10 to 15 MIDI channels recorded...
Every time you add a filter, whether it's a VST synth or VSTI effect, this puts more load on your CPU. If the CPU graph is jumping up into the red, you may need to start freezing some tracks. If it's not, I think that more RAM should help.
Check the latency level in your ASIO driver too. Tweaking this back a little could help.
One other point. Is your USB M-audio soundcard USB v2.0? If it's only USBv1.1 this could easily be your bottleneck.
