Hi Attila can l register my vote for this idea! It would be a significant help with solving my persistant problems with ghost phrases.musicdevelopments wrote:
How about being able to turn an ordinary phrase into a phrase generator? You could right click on this phrase and select 'Convert to Melody Generator' for example, and the rhythm of the original phrase remains the same, but the notes are changed by the chosen phrase generator. Not bad at all!
Thanks

Hi Attila,
i think this might useful,
when we want to apply rhythm from a phrase to the Generator's rhythm section,
without saving rhythm to the Browser first.

Sure, dear yellukhan, it's very sound idea, which I am waiting to be implemented for a long time already (I asked for something similar in the last year, as I rememberyellukhan wrote:Hi Attila,

Copying the rhythm of a phrase to another phrase is already possible since v3.0 by using drag-and-drop (rather than copy/paste).
Ctrl-drag a phrase: copy rhythm from original phrase with variations (what you see in the piano roll)
Ctrl-Shift-drag a phrase: copy the original rhythm, without variations
When dropping the rhythm pattern on a phrase, you can
- either hold down Ctrl to force adding an 'Apply Rhythm' variation
- or release all keys, to replace the rhythm generator in a phrase generator or add an 'Apply Rhythm' to an ordinary phrase. When there is already 'Apply Rhythm' added, the rhythm pattern will be replaced with the dropped rhythm.
Thanks,
Attila

No problem, yellukhan, it wasn't documented, only in release notes....
If you need anything else (like copying a rhythm generator with all its settings rather than just the rhythm pattern) that can be added.
Thanks,
Attila

Sorry, Attila, I missed (or just forgot) somehow that you already added that nice option beforemusicdevelopments wrote:Copying the rhythm of a phrase to another phrase is already possible since v3.0 by using drag-and-drop (rather than copy/paste).

In fact, I have to stress that your unstoppable work on constant improvement of various RC features often results in many "hidden" or not well documented add-ons & tricks "under the hood", so it's very difficult even for experienced/old users of your great program to recall and quickly reproduce them during realtime usage of it
It would be nice to collect all those different "quick mouse/key actions", which you mentioned in your numerous recent updates and to put them all in one additional help-file (simple text format could be used for that purpose, as I think).
And also I would like to inform you about one additional annoying problem which I noticed recently in your latest versions (it seems to me that this problem appeared somewhere after version 3.0 was introduced): for some reason now I can not add new user soundfonts by no means
I tried different options to insert them manually inside dedicated soundfolders of RC, I also tried to check usual "scan soundfonts" option, but after formal accepting by the program of those additions (i.e. all those new SFs appear inside SF-list as "installed") in fact RC didn't create new special ".rcINST" files for them, so they couldn't be used for substitutions. Please, check it.
Thanks in advance and my best wishes to you,
T.

just thinking a loud...
would useful if we have "Keep existing rhythm of chords" also in the Harmonize Melody tab as an option?

Hi Tolstoevsky,
no need to apologize, the program is complex enough that some shortcuts or features are hard to find.
This information is available when you click on the small 'info' button in the left bottom corner of the window. I always update all built-in help when something changes.
I tried hard but could not reproduce any difficulties about adding soundfonts. Which OS&version do you use?
Thanks,
Attila

It would be difficult to add because the harmonized chords have no relation to the existing master track chords. I don't think it would be useful even for subsequent harmonizations.yellukhan wrote:just thinking a loud...

OK, Attila, I'll try to check that info button more often in the future, at least after each new beta appearancemusicdevelopments wrote:Hi Tolstoevsky,

Concerning my troubles with soundfonts adding: FYI, I am an old-fashioned Win7x64 user, nothing special, indeed
