Export (render) auto-deletes if you have auto-render on and change the filename

Took me a bit of time to track down what happens. If you export something from an edit (I am exporting small sections as loops) and you have Render Automatically on it will of course automatically render. But if you change the name of the file being exported, your exported file will be deleted by Tracktion as soon as you close the rendering window.

If you set your browser pane to the project's "Exported" folder you can watch it happen. The file shows up and then disappears.

1. Export -> Render to a file...
2. Turn on "Render Automatically"
3. Change file name
4. Click "Render" button
5. Close render window

BTW, does exporting show up in the log file? I'm not seeing it.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

How are you closing the window? If you close it with any other method than the "Render" button (i.e. the "Cancel" or "X" buttons) the file will be deleted. Think of this the same as saving a file with the system dialog, if you close the window or cancel it the file won't be saved. You need to actually press the save button to confirm the operation.

I think the confusion here comes from the fact that if you change the file name, the text field has focus. Therefore, the next click causes the text box to lose focus and start the automatic render. It doesn't actually register a click on the "Render" button.
The solution is to simply press the "Render" button again.

I know this sounds complicated but basically, just make sure you close the window via the "Render" button to keep the file.

That is indeed very confusing, because what I do is change the filename and click on the Render button and then I can see the rendering happen and the words "Export complete" show up and the file is in its proper location with the new filename. But... it's all a dream. I didn't click the Render button. The render didn't. The export was never complete. The file in the folder is an illusion... (where's the Doug Henning emoji?)

Ah, well. I get why it happens, but it's definitely not what I would expect. Thanks for explaining it to me! The Render button not registering a click but seeming to will most likely trip me up again later when I've forgotten this explanation.
Surely there must be consensus by now...
