Hi there,

I joined the forum for your help, maybe we can figure it out.

I'm interested in using tracktion more and more. Nice concept and a lot of fresh input from devs and community. Especially the Linux support is big thing and I can see a bright future coming to tracktion!

First of all I downloaded several versions (t4 - t7) for demo purposes to get an idea whats this so called "Tracktion" is all about. I've used the forms directly from the product pages which appears when you click the "get yours now/get a free trial" button. There you have to fill in your name, mail, city, country and get the dl-link instantly. I've never received any kind of mail confirmation wether it's the trial versions (ok, I can live with that) or the t4 free version (where I have to get a license code I suppose?).

Some time later I created a user account on TSC website to see if there is any function to request a free license. Nothing found. When I try to unlock t4 and fill in my mail/pw I get the following message:

An authorization error has occured. You do not have a valid license product version."

Where do I get my license from? As I said before, I never got a mail or saw any kind of license-request function. It's not the first time I have a problem with some audio related stuff, I'm doing this for about 12 years now. The thing is you can also find barely any information through out the net.... :roll:
Can someone give me hint before I have to stress the devs out!? I'm sure the guys are working on something nice right now and I dont want to interrupt. ;)

Just in case you want to know: I'm using Win10 Pro x64.
Furthermore, I really appreciated this "kinda fresh" energy on the DAW market and I'm willing to support TSC by purchasing a full t7 license later on. I'm tight on cash right now but I want to get used to t workflow. But it's damn annoying due to the "please unlock" message which is shown up from time to time. Help is really welcome right now. 8)

When you launch T4 you should get an option to register within the program. If you follow that, all you'll need to do is sign in using your user account details and that should register it. I believe.

Link to sign up for free T4 license;

When you click through that, the form you fill in says "Please complete the following form before downloading T4 Free. You will unlock T4 using the email and password below."

When you run T4 for the first time, it will show this dialogue;

Click on unlock, provide the email address and password you used in the form above, and it'll license T4 for you.

When you go back to the Tracktion website, and login with the email address and password you used on that form, and go to Account, then Downloads, you should see this, which lets you download the installer again, if you need to;

If you signed up on that form with one email address and password, then created another Tracktion.com account on a different day, then the T4 license you got filling in the form isn't linked to the 2nd Tracktion.com account you created. Which is why you see nothing, when you login there.

You've created 2 accounts, one has a license, the other doesn't.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

tried the procedure you described above and it doesnt work. As you mentioned I created 2 accounts in which cases I used the same mail and pw. First thing I thought about is that this double registration thingy on my side had maybe caused some issues or something!?
Whatever, I tried to start from scratch. uninstalled t4, registered one more time on tsc with new mail, download the linked installer, installed it again and tried to register with my new mail/pw (but in addition to that a t7 trial is installed still, problem maybe?). Same problem.

Whats this all about? Could this be a problem of win10 which is known for doing some strange things now and then. I read something another not tsc related dev wrote, about how strange win10 handles some registration/key stuff.
Is there also a chance that some TSC files still on my drive remains, which is linked to my first installations? I've installed several times since, maybe this is another potential source of error....

Email support@tracktion.com with the details and they'll sort it out for you. Let us know what needed doing differently and we can direct the next person trying to register T4 to this thread.

So I'm on windows 10. I have T7 installed and licensed. I registered for a free T4 license, installed the T4 installer, and licensed it exactly like I described above, and it worked.

So I can only assume you're doing something different, because I'm doing the steps I described above, and they work.

Your other option is to login to the tracktion website, and go to this URL;

https://marketplace.tracktion.com/app/unlock-offline

Get your machine number from the About menu in tracktion 4 (it will say something like "This computer's machine number: Wcf48b37c")

Download the keyfile you get from the tracktion website, and drag that onto the open T4 gui. It will license it for you.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi there,

I contacted TSC support and after some days (I'm totally fine that;)) I got message.

Brian was so kind and simply added a license to my account (where already had to be one in the first place, I guess!?). After that I started Tracktion and proceeded the simple online unlock which worked like a charm.
Unfortunately Brian didn't stated what the main problem was, so I wrote him again to explore the flaw. As soon as I get the answer I will post it here just in case someone else will experience the same thing as I did and hpefully will find some help with this thread. :)

I also tried the offline method last week before I wrote support and didn't worked also because there was no license stored on my account. Anyway, it's working fine now.

I'll report as soon as I can to complement this thread.
