There shouldn't be a problem with Live, it usually loads standard fxp files fine.wagtunes wrote:Okay, any Live users here? Before I go crazy trying to find a way to fix this (I'm thinking I'm SOL) is there a way to convert or save fxb format presets so that they are compatible in Live?
I don't have LIve, but if there is a way to do this, I'll download the demo (if one exists) and do the conversion, even if I have to do it one patch at a time.
If not, I'm going to have to specifically put on the sale page that this library does not work in Live, even though I've already put it's in vstpreset and fxb format ONLY.
But I should know from experience that some people don't read sales pages.

Ah but that's not an argument against preset browsers per se, it's an argument against preset browsers that use proprietary preset formats. If it sticks to fxp but just enables them to be loaded and saved in hosts that have a problem doing that then it shouldn't affect your ability to browse and load them using Push. Padshop is a good example here, in Cubase loaded as a VST3 plugin it relies on Cubase to load VSTpresets because that's its native format, but in other hosts when loaded as a VST 2 or AU plugin it provides a browser, but internally these are all still vstpresets.thetechnobear wrote:BUT internal preset browsers, don't solve the issue for some of us....
I use a Push 2, so using the standard VST patches means I can browse them, rather than having to use the mouse/keyboard. the patches therefore 'appear' integrated.
yeah, its not perfect, but its better than nothing.
Until,we get a standardised API for browsing (like NKS, but open to all DAWs/Controllers), Im not a fan of internal browsers, regardless of the extra features they provide, because they lack this integration.
(and whilst I feel the pain of sound designers, having to support VST/AU etc formats... as an end-user I tend to only use one format, so can save my own patches in one format without issue)
as always, there are different sides to all 'arguments'

Thanks. He was trying to load the vstpresets folder (that doesn't work). I'll have him try to fxb folder instead.aMUSEd wrote:There shouldn't be a problem with Live, it usually loads standard fxp files fine.wagtunes wrote:Okay, any Live users here? yes, the mac save file dialog box gives the choice of saving banks or programs.whyterabbyt wrote:It should be able to save/load individual .fxp files too.

Future Music hand it Platinum award, 9.1 rating, and sums up:
Excellent value, lots of fun, and sonically powerful - a must-buy especially for those considering entering the modular hardware fray

When i tried to use the demo of Softube Modular recently it crashed Live 9 (on Windows 10 64-bit) every time i started the host (before i was even able to check te plugin). Maybe time to have a look again with the latest version which hopefully is more stable now. As it uses iLok i am not sure if the demo will work another time here.
Anyway i am more a fan of "normal" patches like Leads and Basses and not so much of "Noises" or FX sounds which seem to be quite popular to be done with modular synths.
In that respect i like Arturia Modular V3 (also has a bunch of very nice presets) while you could not add custom modules there. Anywhere the included ones are quite useful and it has some advanced faetures like polyphony and other stuff.

Hello,
is here any Softube Modular and/or FL Studio -user who can tell me how to load FBX banks in FL Studio? FL Studio saves presets in its own .fst format and does not show the FXB file in the internal preset browser. Drag and drop didn't work either.
Best regards,
Stefan

@wagtunes Thank You, this works for FXP -files. I tried to find them in the presets menue of the wrapper, where they do not appear or drag and drop it directly from the windows Explorer, which does not work. BUT with the one FXB -bank I downloaded from a Facebook user group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Softube ... sersGroup/) it works not, nothing happens, respectively it restores the default-preset.
The KVR-thread to the topic is very old and FL Studio now manages the wrapper-presets in the FL Studio browser, what I tried.
But the interesting thing is, that I dedusted my old Cubase AI 7 and loaded Softube Modular. There is a dedicated button to load FXP/FBX files, but only FXP work and FXB not and sets only the preset to the default, whatever there happened last exactly like in FL Studio.
Interesting also, that Cubase AI 7 opens also the factory presets generally as a complete mess of the graphics, they work, but the panels of the modules are shifted and partially layered one over another.
So the present situation is, that that it is not possible to load FXB -banks for Modular in FL Studio.
In wich other hosts except of the big latest Cubase is the situation similar – any experiences?

There is only one last thing that I can suggest as they're probably the only ones who will have a definitive answer. Contact Softube and ask them how to load 3rd party libraries in FXB format into FL Studio.extrajazz wrote:@wagtunes Thank You, this works for FXP -files. This is was known problem for some specific companies and DAW makers. And it is only 64bit problem. 32 bit is unaffected. As someone suggested you can use Live in compatibility mode and it will work that way however M4L and several other plugins are heavily crippled and slow under that mode (i tried it).Ingonator wrote:When i tried to use the demo of Softube Modular recently it crashed Live 9 (on Windows 10 64-bit) every time i started the host (before i was even able to check te plugin). I have better solution but it does cost a bit. In order to run problematic ilok plugins (for example softube ilok require this, relab ilok require this, ssl ilok require this but Soundtoys or Slate does not require ableton to be run in comp. mode) you have to install 32bit version of plugins (so install 32 bit modular) and then simply jbridge it to 64 bit ableton. But jbridge is commercial plugin. Cheap though. 8 eur or something..
Lo and behold it works and since Ableton isn't in compatibility mode there is no performance issue...

I'm bummed out that after all this time this thing is still pretty buggy. The clocking system doesn't sync up properly in any DAW I've tried, and multitimbral patching doesn't work. All of this only happens with big ass setups, but that kind of the point of having a software modular instead of a hardware one. Also the animations of the cables cause massive CPU spikes in every host I've tried once there are more than two rows of modules. When I reported all this to softube they simply said that it worked and they weren't able to optimize things because it would mean sacrificing the quality of their emulation. I don't really have a problem with that in principal, but the emulation is not nearly as close as they seem to think it is as I've been shown by a couple of my modular obsessed friends and it still does pretty nasty aliasing when trying pretty standard modular tricks. Hopefully they have a semi major update in the works that will let this thing achieve its full potential.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.
