Why they insist on royally screwing over US customers with their moronic pricing policy is beyond me but I don't care how good this synth is, I'm not spending $199 on it.

Tone 2 can go F themselves.
I thought it was 149€ + VAT (178 €) = 199$
I don't live in Europe. I shouldn't be charged VAT. The price is 149 Euro. If you do the dollar conversion it comes out to $166.21. THAT'S what I should pay and not a penny more.

And no, to the above poster. I can't pay in Euro from where I am. My PayPal tries to charge me $199.

Like I said, Tone 2 can go F themselves.

Why don't you write them and explain the situation? It would be useful to all.

I just purchased it. When I checked out, I chose display price in Euro. Checked out with Paypal and got an email saying transaction complete, after conversion the cost was $170.51. I'm in the Eastern US.

Yeah, like they're gonna change their pricing policy because I write to them. LMAO.

That's like writing to the Fed and asking them why my taxes are so high and if they can possibly lower them for me. LMAO.

Thanks. I've got better things to do with my time.

how is wagtunes still on kvr? he picks fights with everyone, never gets past his own (closed) point of view. people are giving you concrete suggestions wagtunes... yet you continue to rant. why not take a deep breath, and see if you can make allies here, learn something, and attempt a more mature, and less combative, approach to the forum?

if you have better things to do with your time, how is it you manage to spend so much time here arguing with everyone?

Because suggesting that emailing Tone 2 is suddenly going to change their policy decisions on their pricing is absurd. Give me a suggestion that makes sense. Unfortunately, there are none. It is what it is. This is what Tone 2 decides to charge US customers. And until they decide to change that policy, there is nothing to do.

Payment €149.00 EUR
Payment sent to *******************@digitalriver.com
From amount $170.51 USD
To amount €149.00 EUR
Exchange rate: 1 USD = 0.873898 EUR
I assume the odd $4.00 was a charge to exchange currency, but it beats the extra $34 for paying in USD.

I agree it is stupid that they charge so much more to US customers, but the workaround appears to have done fine for me in this case.

Well, the workaround doesn't work for me. My PayPal, for whatever reason, insists on charging me $199.

When Tone 2 stops being a rip off company on prices, I'll buy their products again. I bought Electra 2 and Rayblaster a while back because they were on "sale" but I still got ripped off compared to the Euro price. So never again.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wouldn't imagine I'm some special snowflake that the process would be any different, but who knows.

Back on topic though, does anyone know how to change the voice sample in a vocoder patch without it creating a fresh patch? I watched Tone2's "tutorial" video about the vocoder section, but it didn't really explain much.

I was also hoping that you could vocode a sample with more complex waveforms. Does the vocoding function only allow for simple waves?

What are you whining about? At the end of the day you pay pretty much the same as Europeans, after taking VAT and currencies into account.

Post

Does anyone know anything more about this?

"This synthesizer has been designed in a way that it can be expanded easily. The open structure allows you, us and 3rd party developers to extend it with our own content."

It sounds as though there could be an SDK available to add functionality which would be very interesting.

No, it's not even close. It's at least a $34 difference.

Basically, people in the US are paying a VAT straight to Tone2 :hihi:

It's okay. There is no law saying that everyone must buy this plug. I am also pretty sure that Tone 2 will survive anyway.

I've written to companies about similar things before and was listened to and a deal given. So, no, it is not absurd... It is worth a try and takes less time that the post you made calling the suggestion absurd... but I think you are more interested in having something to complain about rather than a solution.
