I'm strictly a preset guy. I'll tweak the 'verb or delay, but I leave the heavy lifting to the pros. Which is also why I think the Synthmaster biz model is such a good one. They practically give away the actual synth, so if you're a programmer, you can have at it and go nuts. But if you're like me, they sell preset packages that can keep you going for quite a while, depending on what you want to spend.

The B3 patch that I like is from the basic preset library I believe. Can't recall the name, but it has "Hammond" or "B3" somewhere in the title, if memory serves. I won't be in my studio until late tonight, but if I remember, I'll look it up and report back.

So many plugins, so little time...

Cheers, B, I'm also more of a preset guy. Will search for it. But I'm looking for a nice deal on those Nori Ubukata presets. In the meantime, if you have Omnisphere2 and like pads, have a look at those MegaMagic packs from PlugInGuru. He's the guy from those sweet Korg presets of long ago.

I do have Omni2 and love it, especially the vocal and chorus patches which I use as my go-to pads. I'll check out the PlugInGuru stuff. Looks interesting.

Thanks

Absolutely. Look for MegaMagic Pads first, that one has almost 1 gig of new wav samples and it works in five different hosts.

Yep, can't read a word of it - maybe it's written by lawyers or something :)

I agree, I think Vacuum pro is pretty cool too. I love that I am able to flick through presets whilst locking certain aspects of the synth like the envelopes and modulation settings. Great time saver when layering up synth patches.

All in all, the package is great.

I have a question regarding Waves' update policy. When you buy a $29 plug-in, how long will you get free updates? How much do you have to pay after that period to get updates? When do you have to pay for the third times, etc.?

You have unlimited updates but a 1 year limited if the plugin is upgraded

Don't fall for the latest MusicTech sales push, got promo today that issue 161 comes with an extra DVD of samples (billed as Ultimate Samples Collection Vol 13)

They don't mention though that the content is 4-5 years old and have been on numerous DVD's before either their own or Beat Mag :dog:

Thank you for answering but could you be more precise. Just think of me like a computer or a moron ;)

So for one year I get all updates. After that I have to pay?

If so, how much do I have to pay after one year? That would buy me updates for another year?

No you get updates until the big version changes. Ie when they move to 10.

Put it this way, I own lots and lots of Waves plugins and have done for maybe 4 years. Not once have I paid WUP and they all run perfectly.

You get One year updates free.
a period extension ("WUP") of $29 plugin costs a few dollars.
It can also be free, depending on what else your'e extending.
Most likely you don't have to update. Just wait a few years until you have to.
Best deals from Waves, Eventide, SynchroArts, McDSP and more.

As far as I could figure it out the official price for 1-year WUP for a plugin is 10$ if it's list price is 100$ or less, or around 10% of the list price, if the list price is higher (= the WUP for a 179$ plugin will most likely be 17,90$)
