There's no auto groove detection. Manual slicing is very simple and efficient. Automation is simple and easy to use. There are a few things missing that'd improve the automation. Shifting audio around, chopping and applying FX is perfect in my mind. Rack filters allow for FX sends and lots more.

Quincy, T kicks the shit out of your(and mine as well  ) previous host in this audio realm. However, since there's no beat-detection feature, so a 3rd party slicer may still be desirable if you want to use loops heavily.

EDIT. Ah. I think chagzuki used to use that host too.

Chagzuki and valley - thanks ror the advice.

This begins to sound like a very promising option. Just to be sure about this, can i load a loop onto a track, cut it up, then drag bit to other tracks?

Basically, i don't need some hardcore pro-tools level of audio editing, but if i can create my own loops then easily re-arrange and edit them at a fairly basic level, then thats spot on.

I may have been a bit hasty in not tring this program properly. I suspect, in an EnergyXT style, that this program has a fair bit of whack under a simple interface!

How is midi bad? Maybe there aren't so many advanced editing features but i have never experienced any real problems? Rock solid timing, that's for sure!

Post

Quincy my advice would be to use one of the other 12 hosts you own...

Well what an unexpected wonderful thing! I should have to change my thoughts about Mackie's tracktion-support?? (Rather bad in my case a few months ago, the only bad experience I ever made with software-support, might not matter for anybody else, but surely for me.). Maybe they should have made clear that only the full install has the fine thing, as not only me upgraded the normal way (1,6MB instead of 5,5 with dial-up) with "minimal install" on top of the old. But that matters pretty little compared to that effect, and included in the version before 2 (that's especially nice in my opinion). Simply great!

That's not true at all. I'm writing orchestral music in Tracktion. 100% midi. There's just a couple of things you have to get used to and then the midi editing is reasonably powerful.
