Hello All
I ve just reinstalled my whole system under win 10 1607 version and it seems that under ableton live x64 , for KS and B2 parameters cannot be modulated .
if i try to record automation in clip mode/arrangement mode , they don't appaear @ all in the list; the same thing if i try to add with "configure" button in live .
anyone has the same problem ?
Andrew, I will open a ticket right now for that problem
thx

I have long desired to scan the image backwards in Kaleidoscope, and sort of found a way via 'scrubbing' (forgive me if there is already a known and less convoluted way to do this, I myself have not been able to identify that ability native to Kaleidoscope's native feature set).
Using Numerology 4 (sorry, Mac-only), you can set the master clock to be modulated (LFO ->ParamMod ->Master Clock/Tempo) and then load your audio file into the 'SampleKit-Basic' for playback (link it to transport under 'Misc' of SampleKit). I typically use 'Prime Number' pairs with the 'Dual LFO' module...like Period = 53/59)
Now, when you run that audio through Kaleidscope (audio playback will be continous, normal play of file), set Kalaidoscope 'Timing' to 'Free Time', and 'Frequency' to 0.01 to start. It now will scan forwards and BACKWARDS ('scrub') through the image!
hth
if you simply want playback to go backwards you can instead just reverse (X-flip) the image using the Image Orientation control. Forward moving position with a reversed image is the same thing as backwards moving position with a non-reversed image.
If you want more advanced things like "forwards-then-backwards-then-forwards..." loop or whatever, you have to wait for a future update.

I understand, actually I built a template that automates permutations of image orientation within an arrangement but currently I have to do a short fade to deal with the audio 'glitch' that happens if this is done while playing/bouncing. Part of my background, training, and interests relate to the graphic arts so image permutation is an important part of my composing approach with KSGalbanum wrote:...Forward moving position with a reversed image is the same thing as backwards moving position with a non-reversed image....
I started off interested in the symmetric aspect of one continuous play of the image forwards-then-backwards (such to emulate an 'arc form' of the musical output of image, especially when setting the total single-pass play time of image to desired final total track time), but, after discovering this 'scrub' aspect have delighted in generating a variety of 'performances' within an image using multiplied and waveshaped lfo's to control the tempo (and thus positioning of KS playhead). Feeding miscellaneous motors and mechanical devices as sound source activators and combining different modes of input/output maps (Host versus Free/Freq) has creating some very realistic 'free improv-like' performances (along the lines of a 'virtual Borbetomagus'?)Galbanum wrote:If you want more advanced things like "forwards-then-backwards-then-forwards..." loop or whatever, you have to wait for a future update. But generally I am of the opinion that simple forwards-backwards loop is not that interesting and we have other more interesting things planned for this family of things (manipulation of playback position etc.)
But, since basic loop variations like 'forwards-then-backwards-then-forwards...' is not that interesting lol, I look forward to what might instead appear in a future version, though given your above comment, anything short of a complete gravity based XYZ Cartesian space (with inertia, friction, bounce, etc) will probably be disappointing lol
Seriously, I think further playback control on the level of performing an image space is a very worthy direction in furthering KS's abilities based on my meager 'method' and experiments thus far, I will look forward to expanded playback options which will hopefully allow similar 'scrubbing' and other gestural-like playhead variations to occur in real time
Thanks for your reply Andrew.

It will be very interesting where Kaleidoscope will go in development... I have feeling that this will go into unexpected area.
However time will tell.
@ Loopy C
It is really nice to see you around after all those years.(I remember you from OSXaudio.com forums from 2004)
I was R2D2 with thread about AUMatrixReverb, and I made a bunch of presets for it.

Mostly a 'lurker' these days, though in the case of Simon (which is how I came to be following the thread here) , perhaps more a stalker...he's kind of my sound design idol

Yes, Simon's work is top notch.
We shared presets for Aether, and B2 reverb together in "Presets Designers" folders.
I remember your experimental ambient music, still doing it I see.
cheers

Nice to still see you lurking around these premises, I never felt stalked by you so you're doing something wrongLoopy C wrote:You too Den! How the years fly byDen* wrote:

I fully support your request for forwards backwards looping in KS (and more advanced options), but I gave up asking for it myself, as Andrew doesn't like it - although most samplers I know on this planet have forward backwards looping, it seems to be a nice option for loop-based instruments (which KS is). I guess it would take 20 minutes of coding to implement it into KS, but well...it's nice as it is now

The rhythmical side of KS, crossfading between five instances with 5-8 based poly-grooves live on video, input source is the internal noise generator only.
...and something more soundtrack-ish with 4 instances, input sources are brown noise/ocean waves and an urban field recording with traffic noises and voices, Some volume automation and external FX (B2/Reverbical/MXXX).

your
head
is
about
to
explode!
No joke.
Until then here's a cool track to check out, using tons of KS and B2:

some days I just really wish i could share the stuff we are working on while we are working on it, but in general I can say we are going A LOT farther with KS and we have been making great progress...
