The key volume only affects the compressor side-chain.
Turning it up will just make the compressor work harder, same as lowering the threshold.

is there any way you can "bypass" it, to do an a/b effect of wet/dry?

Just disable the filter same as you would any other tracktion filter

You do get two A/B mix buttons if you want to A/B different approaches too ...
