Is anyone else taking a look at Sample Logic's little gambling game where you get a $99 certificate to use within 7 days if you buy their water harp instrument for $99?
https://www.samplelogic.com/products/waterharp-2/
If I knew that Xosphere or Arpology were going to be on sale in the next 7 days then I would bit for sure. As it is, this is a complete gamble other than getting the water harp instrument. The demos for that sound really good, but...
Thoughts?

Re: Sample Logic, yeah it's definitely an oddly compelling gimmick - the water harp itself, while it would motivate me to take the plunge as a "free" bonus on a purchase I was eyeing anyway, is not something I'd buy on its own. So it all comes down to whether or not one of their next 7 deals is something I'd plunge on - and making that decision in the next <12 hours with no real info that I know of.
I kind of want to lean "no" just because I don't want to encourage this sort of sales tactic, even though there's a chance that it's actually a good deal. That said, if somebody actually knows more of their sales plans (personally I'd be more interested in their Virtual Ensemble Trilogy or its underlying Rumble/Impakt/Fanfare libraries), that'd be great.

The THUNDER SPRINGS for $99 is great too so you could get a BOGOF if you want.

Thanks, I will have a listen! I bought Havoc when it was on sale from VSTbuzz for cheap and am happy with it.

Waterharp is not a Kontakt Player instrument, so $99 is quite a bitGribs wrote:Thoughts?
Kontakt 5 GUI's are becoming painfully small on hi-res screens, so buying into Sample Logic's high price libs might be a gamble if Kontakt 6 is around the corner.
When Kontakt 6 hits will Sample Logic give users a free ride update, or does the wallet have to come out again?

Interesting point - agreed that the non-Player status is a factor, but I was under the impression that Kontakt in general has good backwards compatibility and so that K6 should play K5 libraries just fine (granted it won't necessarily magically scale the UI to be better, though we can dream).Numanoid wrote:Waterharp is not a Kontakt Player instrument, so $99 is quite a bitGribs wrote:Thoughts?

It does seem like Sample Logic isn't always great about updates - Waterharp 1 was $49, Waterharp 2 (which was basically Waterharp 1 + bunch of new morphed stuff) is $99 with no upgrade path. So yeah, getting a "free" library that would actually require another significant chunk of cash in the future to keep it running smoothly would be subpar.
That said, I'm not trying to talk it down too much, the sound is interesting and all - just trying to wrap my head around this "gambling" aspect...

Yeah K6 will more or less 100% certainly play K5 libs, but it will not make the older GUI's larger by default I think?Jazzaria wrote:Interesting point - agreed that the non-Player status is a factor, but I was under the impression that Kontakt in general has good backwards compatibility and so that K6 should play K5 libraries just fine (granted it won't necessarily magically scale the UI to be better, though we can dream)
K5 GUI's now are hampered in the horisontal direction, they are quite tiny on hi res screens. Kind of like the same size as Phonec 2 (before the new bigger GUI of that was launched).
And for libs like Sample Logic's that has a lot of controls crammed into the GUI, it is good to have a bigger GUI to properly see everything in there.

Great discussion! I decided to pass on this one. Maybe one of the Sample Logic libraries that interests me will be up for a deal during the current sale.

Mapped to controller i don't care much about tiny GUIs . I can't imagine to tweak the controls with a mouse so that point don't concern me personally.

Does anyone knows how much time does it takes NI to answer a license transfer request? Almost two weeks and no response.
