Maybe I could explain it a bit better: I don't use the Mix Panel Layout with the clip launcher on top and Scene1, Secne 2, Scene3 etc. on the left side one below the other. I only work in the Arrange view (right side) with the Clip Launcher on the left side.

If I use the Mix Panel Layout with the clip launcher on top then the APCmini corresponds (shows) the correct arrangement/layout on the screen but not if I'm working in the just described Arrange view with the Scene's on top (from left to right - and not on the left side one below the other).

Therefore I like to have the possibility to push the corresponding buttons also in the arrangement/clip launcher view. But maybe my question is already answered here because you said you won't implement a so called 'flip mode'?

However, thank you for such a great script (the other functionality is very inspiring)!

Hello moss,

I have been using your APC mini script for Bitwig some time now and with great success. It has really help my music making process greatly. I have run into a problem however that I have traced at least partly back to your script, and I was hoping that if you have a little free time you might find some fix to this issue. I would GREATLY appreciate if you did.

The problem is this. When I use some plugins in Bitwig, namely Synthmaster 2.8 and Arturia Analog Lab 2, the whole controller functionality in Bitwig freezes up. I have an Arturia Keylab 25 in addition to my APC mini and neither one can get any controller messages into Bitwig for a few minutes at a time when these plugins are being used. The freeze up will persist for about a minute or two and then function again until I make certain changes in the plugins. Basic MIDI functionality remains even when the controller function freezes, meaning I can still play notes and such.

I thought that this might be just a Bitwig problem and I think it partly is, but this problem only happens when I have your APC mini script running in bitwig. If I take it out from the controller list, or if I unplug the APC from my computer, the problem goes away, at least after a restart.

Here is a video I made that demonstrates this problem.

I contacted Bitwig tech support and they told me the following:
“the problem seems to occur with plugins that send controller data when changing presets. We're still investigating what exactly happens, but if you can turn off that the plugin sends midi changes, you might be able to stop the problem for now.

Best,
Dom “

I was not able to change the behavior of the plugins, but I thought that you might be able to change something in the script to keep the scrip from crashing the controller API.

Thank you so much for your time.

Sorry, there is nothing I can do about it. Hope the Bitwig guys find the bug.

Cheers.

Hi :)

I have a huge respect for what you are doing and have done.

I downloaded the latest version of the script from your website and completed all the settings necessary to give APC-40 MKII a go on Bitwig. I am on Bitwig 1.3.9 .

I tried to follow your youtube tutorial :

1. As I connect APC-40 MKII, I do not see the launch buttons light up although i have tracks loaded on Bitwig Session view(Mix View).

2. I have to press buttons on the controller more than necessary to cease. The buttons range anything from 'PLAY' , 'RECORD' at the top to 'Arm Record' buttons in the mixer.

3. I don't see any 'shift' related commands working.

4. Metronome button doesn't seem to work, neither do 'TAP TEMPO' and 'TEMPO' knob.

I am not saying anything besides these work, I was just discouraged to follow your tutorial anymore after seeings these ones not working.

I hope I have raised the valid query.

Once again, thanks for everything.

Please retry with latest Bitwig version 1.3.13. If this still happens check the script log window for any errors.

Hey, one question since I have not tested the APC40 mk2 with Bitwig for a year or so.. In Ableton you have your 8 macros for every chain/device and when you control them with the knobs on the right side you get full clock LED feedback (see picture): https://i.ytimg.com/vi/S8L110eVnDQ/maxresdefault.jpg .. In the vids I only see one or two leds lighting up when changing parameters .. Is it possible to get full LED feedback when changing macros in Bitwig? Thx for your time!

For Pan, Sends and Macros I chose the "Volume mode" for LEDs which is like you expect it. But for device control I chose the "Single mode" which uses 1 or 2 LEDs since those values can represent "anything". I guess thats the one you saw in the video.

Hey Moss ! I was looking for a cheap controller ( cheap as in student budget hehe ) to add to my current setup consisting of an Akai MPK Mini MkII and Bitwig.
I stumbled upon the APC Mini while looking around on Thomann, and it's exactly what I was looking for.
However I was wondering if it was possible to create clips using only the controller ? I saw in your tutorial that there is a function to replace the current selected clip with a 1 bar empty clip, but is there a way to create a new clip on an empty slot, and edit it right away ?
Thanks for all your hard work and for what you're doing for the Bitwig community, these kind of scripts are exactly why I bought this DAW in the first place !
Cheers

That was not a replace but a create. So, yes it is possible.

EDIT : I actually found what I was looking for, thanks for the answer !

Hi moss! Your APCmini mapping is amazing. Thank you so much!

Wondering if I missed this functionality in the release notes somewhere, but was wondering if it is possible to add duplicate a specific clip into a designated clip slot? I see this type of functionality on many controllers (NI Maschine for example). Workflow is as follows: hold down the duplicate button on the controller, select the clip/cell you would like to copy or duplicate, select the clip/cell destination you would like to copy to, release duplicate button. Now a duplicate copy of the clip will be in your destination clip slot.

Thanks!
