That makes more sense to me than the guitar thing.crystalmsc wrote:My sense told me that it's going to be a decent Drum machine, with an innovative Drum Synth engine and interactive sequencer, plus loads of quality multi-sample drums and modern cinematic/ethnic percussion. Then they're back with a Trinity of Synth, Bass and Drum. So far what they have is basically a drum sample player with limited kits, a true Spectrasonics quality Drum machine still a missing link and worth the 10 years in the making. It will be full of mind blowing features, fxs, modular capability, ability to load samples and using the Omnisphere engine. Stylus will have an update later and stay as a great loop mangler and will integrate with the new Drum Machine in the future.

At a wild guess I'm thinking it could be something along the lines of either a dedicated vocal engine along the lines of Trillion - Eric has done a lot of libs with voices - or a dedicated guitar engine. Not seeing a drum engine happening unless they are doing a monster redo of Stylus... which I would love - big fan of Stylus - but we are only hours away from the big reveal. So! Seconds away and counting ...................

I'm thinking it could be a full feathered sampler.
Kontakt would really benefit from competition.

Ten years in the making suggests an extremely comprehensive product, whatever it is. Considering their current line-up a guitar synth makes sense, along the lines of Trilian. There are quite a few guitar libraries out there but I imagine Spectrasonics would create the ultimate guitar behemoth replete with all kinds of acoustic and electric guitars. Imagine that combined with their fx and maybe even the granular synthesis from Omnisphere. That would be sweet as hell.
